Mr. Hauxwell announced the winter sport classifications to the board. He mentioned that district cross country had been moved to Wednesday October 11th in Ogallala, SPVA volleyball was October 14th at Perkins County, and subdistrict volleyball was October 23rd and 24th, in which Chase County is the 4th seed at this time. 15 students and 4 adults are attending the FFA National Convention in Indianapolis on November 1st-4th and 3 students and 1 sponsor will be attending the FCCLA National Fall Conference in Birmingham from November 9th-12th. He ended his report updating the board on the use of the weight room since the start of the morning sessions.

VI.2. PRINCIPALS' REPORT

Mrs. Odens noted that things were very busy with lots of activities, including the staff and students wearing orange for bully prevention month, upcoming dress-up days and presentations are planned for red ribbon week on October 23rd-27th, and all the dress-up days for the week of homecoming. The 4th graders attended Food and Nutrition day at Perkins County Schools on September 20th, the bus drivers held bus evacuation drills on September 27th, and all the health checks were completed with the help of the Lions Mobile Screening. On October 9th the 1st Grade went to Ogallala to the Lake McConaughy Visitor Center, the teachers had in-service and parent-teacher conferences on October 10th, and MAPS and NSCAS testing had been completed and data was shared with parents at the conferences. 13 members of the MTSS and PBIS teams will attend a conference on October 12th-13th in Kearney, the Polish Your Pearls Dental Program will offer free screenings on October 12th, the Kindergarten class will go to the Holyoke pumpkin patch on October 13th, and the parade of costumes will be on October 31st at 2:30 in the Longhorn Gym.
Mr. Barr began his report with an update on student enrollment numbers, student discipline numbers, and the average attendance rate. He noted that the administrative team did training on Canvas on October 2nd and would like to have the teachers do some training during the 2024-2025 school year. The high school students attended a college fair sponsored by the school on September 13th, the National Honor Society induction was September 27th, and the food class held their annual chili cookoff on October 6th. On September 21st the middle school science classes visited the 21st Century mobile STEM trailer and the middle school pep band played at the manor on October 6th. He thanked the Imperial Police Department for providing breathalyzer checks at the homecoming dance on October 6th. The PBIS September students of the month were selected, Mrs. Paisley began counseling lessons with middle school students, and Mr. Barr has asked teachers to send him celebrations and classroom happenings to include in his monthly board report.

VI.3. SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

Mr. Lambert gave his monthly update where he noted that the district hosted their first LB1184 meeting of the year, he trained a 5th new bus driver to start subbing, and he has been working with the county attorney on the truancy program. He has completed the Title I grant as well as 10 other required state reports. They had a 2nd staff golf outing and also celebrated the staff and their hard work with coffee and goodies. Approval was made for a concrete pad to be poured outside the wood shop for students to build sheds safely and the woods class continued work on the guest crows' nest. He is working to build up the substitute teacher pool and has a couple of new subs interested. He attended an ESU 15 superintendent meeting on September 21st and an ESU 15/16 meeting with the commissioner of education, deputy commissioner in charge of Rule 10 and certification. He updated the board on the building and grounds, which included saying that a mower and bus broke down and had or will be repaired. The engineers for the parking lot project were ready to present at the meeting tonight. Hoping that the bleacher company would be out this week to do final measurements. A chunk of concrete in the rock area north of the teachers' parking lot had lifted and become a trip hazard, so it was removed and replaced. Due to a swing breaking, Dallas was also replacing all the swings at the north playground. He ended with an update of account balances in all the funds.

IX. NOTICE OF SETTLEMENT OF CLAIM

IX.1. This is a notice that Chad Ambrosek and Joni Norden asserted a claim for damages arising from injuries Ellie Ambrosek sustained from an accident that occurred on September 27, 2022 while Ellie Ambrosek was a student at Chase County Schools and a settlement was reached. This settlement only settled Chad Ambrosek and Joni Norden’s claims as parents, it does not include Ellie Ambrosek’s individual claim. A full release of liability has been executed in exchange for a lump sum settlement of $300,000.00 which will be paid by NASB-ALICAP, Chase County School’s risk liability pool. A copy of the settlement agreement will be available upon request at the meeting.
