D.17. Voluntary Student Accident Insurance
Rationale:
Worker’ Compensation & Insurance Management recommends renewing participation in the Voluntary Student Accident Insurance, which has a renewal date of August 1, 2017 and is written by K&K and Nationwide. The coverage is wholly paid for by the participating students, and no costs are incurred by the District. The District has written this coverage with K & K Insurance since 2011. This coverage reduces the overall liability to the district and helps families without health insurance cover the cost of accidental medical expenses.

D.18. 7th and 8th Grade Catastrophic Coverage
Rationale:
Worker’ Compensation & Insurance Management recommends renewing the 7th and 8th Grade Catastrophic Coverage, which has a renewal date of August 1, 2017 and is written by Student Assurance Services & Zurich Insurance. The District purchased this plan starting in 2008 because the NSAA’s catastrophic accident plan only covers senior high student athletes. The premium of this coverage remains unchanged from the 8/1/16-8/1/17 policy period at $5,378.00.
