F. School Spotlight
Rationale:
Good evening Board President Snow, members of the board and Superintendent Dr. Logan. We are pleased to welcome Gifford Park student Nora Wessel, teacher Nicole Aune, and Principal Kim Jones as tonight’s #OPSProud Spotlight.
With strong community support, engagement, and enthusiasm, families gathered to officially dedicate Gifford Park Elementary School this past week. The energy was contagious and the gratitude to our voters who made the project possible through our 2014 bond was palpable. All of our speakers did a wonderful job sharing their perspective on the unique privilege of being a foundational member of a school community, but I want to highlight Ms. Aune’s and Nora’s speeches. They were heartfelt and hit home. They show the best of what makes us all OPS Proud. We’re sharing both speeches on Gifford Park’s Facebook page, so be sure to check their social media and watch each clip in full. I would like to turn the microphone over to our student speaker, Nora Wessel, to deliver an excerpt of her wonderful speech. |
