7. New Business
|
7.1. Set 2016 Driver's Education Fee
More Information:
This is a yearly item for the Board. I feel we can leave the fee at the current rate: $215 for Milford resident/option students and $250 for students that live out of the District and are not option students. Conference average is $240. The program has been in the black the past five years. I feel we should keep this fee as it will cover any increased fuel prices that could occur this summer (even though prices are lower right now) or repairs needed to the vehicle. We are using the old Malibu this summer for the first time for driver's ed so we will have some costs to get the passenger brake installed.
Recommended Motion(s):
Motion to set the 2016 Driver’s Education fee at $215 for district resident students and approved option students and $250 for students that do not attend Milford Public Schools. Passed with a motion by Board Member #1 and a second by Board Member #2.
|
7.2. Approve the Hiring of Mitch Kubicek as Director of Learning Beginning with the 2016-17 School Year
More Information:
We need to officially act on the hiring of Mitch Kubicek. Mitch resigned his current position as Superintendent of Dorchester Schools at Dorchester's last regular meeting. Dr. Kubicek will start with the District at the beginning of July. Dr. Olson will be around to start the school year to assist Dr. Kubicek in his transition to MPS. I would like to change the title of Dr. Olson's and Dr. Kubicek's position to Director of Learning. I feel it better represents the day-to-day job duties performed by Dr. Olson. His leadership and decisions directs student learning daily.
Recommended Motion(s):
Motion to approve the hiring of Dr. Mitch Kubicek as the District's Director of Learning beginning in July, 2016. Passed with a motion by Board Member #1 and a second by Board Member #2.
