Future discussion can be requested as an agenda item. To be recognized, all participants must complete the Request to Address the Milford Board of Education Form. No complaints regarding specific staff members will be heard during a public meeting. The District has established separate procedures for complaints against individual employees. 3. Board Retreat
|
3.1. Review/Discussion of District's Mission Statement
More Information:
The Mission Statement is Attached.
|
3.2. Review/Discussion of District's Guiding Questions
More Information:
The Guiding Questions are attached.
|
3.3. Review/Discussion of Board Member Questionnaire
More Information:
The board member responses are attached. My current plan is to go through this document and have discussions on items as needed.
The purpose of the process is to review all ideas, confirm current ideas, and review those that are different from our current practices. While some ideas in the survey may be only one board member’s vision, this retreat is the time to explore and discuss those ideas. As you will see, overall, there is a lot of consistency in the responses. I want the focus to be on planning for the future. The administrative team will have comments on some items. We are looking forward to great positive discussions. |
3.4. General Planning for Future - Current Expenditures, Current/Future Staffing, Student Numbers, Housing Projects, Etc.
More Information:
We will review these general items. There are several attachments for the meeting. The future housing development maps are for board and administration only at this point. The developers have asked we not share the maps but gave permission to discuss verbally in the meeting or at future meetings.
|
3.5. Review/Discussion of the 2014 Board Priority Statements
More Information:
I have this as the last agenda item so that if the board sees some common themes from discussions tonight, we can discuss updates to this document. We can only discuss updates, any changes would need to take place at the February Board Meeting as no actions can take place at this meeting.
The administrative team is working on updating progress on this document but just have not had the time together to complete it as a group. We plan on having it ready by the Februrary regular meeting. |
4. Executive Session
More Information:
The Board of Education reserves the right to enter into Closed/Executive Session for 1) the protection of the public interest, or 2) the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual, and/or the individual has not requested a public meeting. When making a motion to enter into Closed/Executive Session, the member making the motion should be as specific as possible as to the reason(s) for executive session. The Board President will restate the reason for Closed/Executive Session after the motion has been acted on.
