More Information: Mission Statement - Milford Public Schools will prepare all students to be successful citizens: Our Mission is fulfilled when all students read with comprehension, speak and write clearly, compute accurately, reason logically, understand and appreciate the fine arts, apply suitable strategies and habits of mind to solve problems, utilize technology to communicate and to understand information and behave morally.

This agenda contains a list of subjects known at the time of its distribution. A copy of the agenda reflecting any changes will be available for public inspection during normal business hours in the District Office. Except for items of an emergency nature, the agenda shall not be altered later than twenty-four hours before the meeting. The Board reserves the right to alter the order of items, as it deems necessary.

This is the public’s opportunity to speak to items on the agenda. This is also the public’s opportunity to speak to any topic concerning the school district - since it is not an agenda item the board cannot discuss or take action on the matter at this time. Future discussion can be requested as an agenda item. To be recognized, all participants must complete the Request to Address the Milford Board of Education Form. No complaints regarding specific staff members will be heard during a public meeting. The District has established separate procedures for complaints against individual employees. More Information: We have attached the calendar and a document listing all the activities we are working around. Our recommendation is to move graduation to Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.

Recommended Motion(s): Motion to set Sunday, May 15th as the 2022 Graduation date. Passed with a motion by Board Member #1 and a second by Board Member #2.

More Information: We are asking for approval of this item. There may be a few changes as we work through this process the next 5 years and will have the board approve those as needed.

7.1. Review, Consider, and Take All Necessary Action on Administrator Resignation– Cameron Soester

More Information: Cameron is resigning to take the 6-12 principal job at Louisville Public Schools. Cameron has had a tremendous impact on our district. His "just get it done" attitude will be missed. He is a great administrator and friend. We will miss him.

Recommended Motion(s): Motion to accept the resignation of Cameron Soester and thank him for his 8 years of service to MPS students and families. Passed with a motion by Board Member #1 and a second by Board Member #2.

7.2. Review, Consider, and Take All Necessary Action on 2021-2022 Initial Teaching Contracts for Janet Howles (Elementary Music), Jacob Leuenberger (9-12 Science), Brittany Wambold (1^st Grade)

More Information:

Janet Howles - K-6 Music

Janet has been a teacher and SPED para at Lakeview Public Schools.
Janet has also been an adjunct professor of clarinet for Doane College

Jacob Leuenberger - 9-12 Science

Jacob has been a teacher in Nebraska City for 2 years and Johnson Brock for 6 years.
Jacob spent 2 years in Egypt teaching science and technology.

Brittany Wambold - 1st Grade

Brittany is currently a graduate research and teaching assistant at UNL while finishing her masters degree in special education.
Brittany student taught in Deb Schmidt’s room in the fall of 2019.

Recommended Motion(s): Motion to approve initial teaching contracts for Janet Howles, Jacob Leuenberger, and Brittany Wambold. Passed with a motion by Board Member #1 and a second by Board Member #2.

7.3. Review, Consider, and Take All Necessary Action on 2021-2022 Initial Administrative Contract for Sadie Coffey (7-12 Assistant Principal/Athletic Director)

More Information:

We interviewed four candidates.
All candidates did a great job in their interviews. Three candidates stood out after the interviews. We narrowed it to two and Sadie was selected.
Sadie has been a special education teacher in Holdrege, a principal at Heartland, and Superintendent at Shickley.
Sadie has a specialty in special education which is an area we have talked about the past few years.

Recommended Motion(s): Motion to approve Sadie Coffey as the 7-12 Assistant Principal/Assistant Athletic Director. Passed with a motion by Board Member #1 and a second by Board Member #2.

The Board of Education reserves the right to enter into Closed/Executive Session for 1) the protection of the public interest, or 2) the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual, and/or the individual has not requested a public meeting. When making a motion to enter into Closed/Executive Session, the member making the motion should be as specific as possible as to the reason(s) for executive session.

The Board President will restate the reason for Closed/Executive Session after the motion has been acted on.
