This agenda contains a list of subjects known at the time of its distribution.  A copy of the agenda reflecting any changes will be available for public inspection during normal business hours in the District Office.  Except for items of an emergency nature, the agenda shall not be altered later than twenty-four hours before the meeting.  The Board reserves the right to alter the order of items, as it deems necessary.

Information concerning the Open Meeting Law, Chapter 84, Article 14 of Nebraska State Statutes, is posted on the bulletin board in the back of the meeting room.

This is the public’s opportunity to speak to items on the agenda. This is also the public’s opportunity to speak to other non-agenda topics concerning the school district - since it is not an agenda item the board cannot discuss or take action on the matter at this time. To be recognized, all participants must complete the Request to Address the Milford Board of Education Form.  The District has established separate complaint procedures for any complaints, including complaints and concerns against individual employees.  As such, the Board requests that this complaint process be followed before discussion with the Board takes place.  Thank you for your participation.

Items to Point Out:

1. $61,936.21 to ESU 6.  This is obviously our largest bill.  We are billed quarterly.  You will see the majority of this is special education related - OT, psychologist, hearing, speech, transition, CRAVE and project Search (18+ old students).  We have an additional $936 for PT services and $8,265 to Maxim Health for special education nursing services.
2. $5,053 to COOP is bus fuel.
3. $4,011 to Oswald was for emergency lighting repairs and updates.
4. Electric and natural gas bills were just over $20,000 combined.

1. The monthly General Fund expenditure average is  $100,000 over last year's monthly average.
2. Cash on hand after paying April expenditures is $998,534.  Basically, one month of expenditures.  Not a good financial position.  We are estimating, based on past year's numbers, that we will receive just over $2.1 million in property tax payments in the remaining four months.
3. The Special Building Fund balance is at $706,197.  The majority of this balance is designated for the elementary addition lease purchase.  We may need to use some of these funds for summer projects if allowed by statute which would affect the ability to pay the lease off early.
4. The Depreciation Fund balance is at $581,722.  
   1. We will have a technology order of around $60,000 this summer.  This is to replace the technology that is scheduled for retirement.  It is all technology that Jonah is unable to update  properly to operate the software and systems we need.  If our general fund balance continues to be low, we will have to use the depreciation fund.

The Board of Education reserves the right to enter into Closed/Executive Session for 1) the protection of the public interest, or 2) the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual, and/or the individual has not requested a public meeting. When making a motion to enter into Closed/Executive Session, the member making the motion should be as specific as possible as to the reason(s) for executive session.

The Board President will restate the reason for Closed/Executive Session after the motion has been acted on.
