More Information: Mission Statement - Milford Public Schools will prepare all students to be successful citizens: Our Mission is fulfilled when all students read with comprehension, speak and write clearly, compute accurately, reason logically, understand and appreciate the fine arts, apply suitable strategies and habits of mind to solve problems, utilize technology to communicate and to understand information and behave morally.

This agenda contains a list of subjects known at the time of its distribution. A copy of the agenda reflecting any changes will be available for public inspection during normal business hours in the District Office. Except for items of an emergency nature, the agenda shall not be altered later than twenty-four hours before the meeting. The Board reserves the right to alter the order of items, as it deems necessary.

This is the public’s opportunity to speak to items on the agenda. This is also the public’s opportunity to speak to other non-agenda topics concerning the school district - since it is not an agenda item the board cannot discuss or take action on the matter at this time. To be recognized, all participants must complete the Request to Address the Milford Board of Education Form. The District has established separate complaint procedures for any complaints, including complaints and concerns against individual employees. As such, the Board requests that this complaint process be followed before discussion with the Board takes place. Thank you for your participation.

We will have payroll added on Wednesday due to system errors.

We added the following expenditures on Wednesday. These were added as they are "normal" monthly payments but we did not receive the invoice until Wednesday. The early meeting causes issues like this.

Here is what was added on Wednesday:

$20.99 to Amazon for elementary music supplies
$140 to CHI Company Health for bus driver physicals
$107 to Cobble Stone Hotel in Broken Bow for a Vocational Ag trip for State Land Judging Contest
$162.70 to First Citizen's Bank for our copier lease
$3,122.36 to Jan Meehl - district physical therapy services
$576.93 to Sam's Club for supplies for FCS, elementary office, district office, and preschool
$514 to Uribe is for our monthly trash service
$1,213.97 to Windstream for telephone service
Total of $5,857.95 increase compared to the first general fund expenditure report

Other Items to Point Out:

We had a couple of items related to college visits. These are now general fund expenditures as we no longer receive the Quest College Access Grant.
Check #45790 to POD3G is to Pioneer Overhead Door. They changed their billing name so just wanted to point that out.
$3,325 to Porter Trustin is for repairs to the pads on the walls in one of our special education rooms. This is a sped expenditure.
$5,069 to Potter is for replacement of the fuel tank on the 2014 bus.
$2,739 to Potter is for removal and replacement of the VGT actuator on the 17 bus..
$1,848 to Potter is for brakes on the 15A bus.
Home Depot Pro expenditures are for maintenance equipment, including updated tools and equipment for Jason Roth and a drill for Jonah and the technology department for drilling through concrete to run technology lines.

Other Items to Point Out:

After three months, our monthly expenditures are down $82,455 compared to this time last year. Although this year's three-month average would currently put us at a 9% increase in spending over 12 months or $900,000+.
Our cash on hand after this month's expenditures is $690,936. This is the 2nd lowest balance we have had.
Revenue - this month's tax revenue from Seward County was $100,000 less than last year's revenue at this time. We were told today that MPS has $1,000,000 in taxes unpaid at this time. Hopefully, this trend does not continue throughout the year.

Recommended Motion(s): Motion to change Thursday, April 8 from a 1:30 student dismissal day to a no student school day to accommodate additional schools attending the district music contest we are hosting Passed with a motion by Board Member #1 and a second by Board Member #2.

7.3. Review, Consider, and Take All Necessary Action on Purchase of a 2014 GMC Mini Bus

More Information: Cross County Community School is selling a 2014 GMC Mini Bus that has 78,273 miles. It also has two working wheelchair lifts. We have been looking for a used one for a number of years. This bus is actually in better shape than one of ours, and is equal to the 2nd. It would be used on our daily special education routes for our students that use wheelchairs and for activities for these students when needed. Cross County is asking $20,000. We will purchase this under special education accounts.

Recommended Motion(s): Motion to purchase a 2014 GMC Mini Bus from Cross County Community School for $20,000. Passed with a motion by Board Member #1 and a second by Board Member #2.

The Board of Education reserves the right to enter into Closed/Executive Session for 1) the protection of the public interest, or 2) the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual, and/or the individual has not requested a public meeting. When making a motion to enter into Closed/Executive Session, the member making the motion should be as specific as possible as to the reason(s) for executive session.
