President Jennifer Boruch called the special meeting to order at 6:02 PM. This special meeting was called to discuss the hiring procedure of a new superintendent to replace retiring Superintendent Steven Rinehart after the 2019-2020 school year. President Boruch informed those in attendance that a current copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room, then directed the public to its location.

Also present was Debra Berry. Superintendent Steven Rinehart, Principal Dale Maynard and Principal Brett Webster were at the parent/student meeting about mandatory drug testing for students involved in activities at Osceola Public Schools. There were no patrons present.

Mr. Dan Bird and Mr. Fred Helmink of the Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association addressed the Board about the process of replacing Superintendent Steven Rinehart when he retires after the 2019-2020 school year. A timeline that tentatively concludes with a selection of a new superintendent on February 10, 2020 was proposed.
