This meeting has been preceded by advance notice and is hereby declared to be in open session. A current copy of the Nebraska Open Meetings Act is posted on the N.E. wall of the meeting room. Notice of this meeting was given in advance by posting it on the Cozad Community Schools website, at the District Office, City of Cozad office, and First Bank and Trust. Notice of this meeting was also given in advance to all members of the Board of Education. |

3.1. Discuss, Consider, and Take Action upon a request for permission to use school vehicles for a civic event
Rationale:
Motion WHEREAS, Mid State Aviation II, Inc. is hosting an airshow in June of 2016; and WHEREAS, Mid State Aviation II, Inc. has requested permission to use school vehicles for this event; WHEREAS, the airshow will provide significant economic and cultural benefits to the Cozad community as a whole and to the students and patrons of Cozad Community Schools in particular; and WHEREAS, the board deems the unique nature of this civic event to justify a departure from the district's regular practice of not allowing the use of school vehicles by non-school groups. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the board of education suspend Board Policy 1336 and grant permission to the Cozad Airport to use school district vehicles for this event. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Superintendent Applegate be authorized and directed to enter into an appropriate written agreement with Mid State Aviation II, Inc. related to the use of the vehicles.
