1.1. Call meeting to order
Rationale:
Executive/Closed Session may be necessary during this meeting for either: 1) Protection of the public interest; or, 2) The prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual, and if the individual has not requested a public meeting. Recognition of Visitors: The Board of Education encourages citizens to take advantage of the opportunity to address the Board at its regular meetings. Such opportunities will ordinarily be limited to the, “Communications from the Public” section of the meeting. When there are several persons who wish to address the Board at a meeting, the Board President shall have the authority to limit the amount of time provided to each speaker. In compliance with Nebraska statute 84-1412 the Open Meetings Act is posted within the meeting room. |

Rationale:
Tonight we are recognizing the Elementary and JH Quiz Bowl teams. The JH Freeman A team placed 2nd in the ESU #5 Invite and 2nd at the Thayer Central Invite. The elementary team competed well at the Thayer Central and ESU 5 Invites and are looking forward to hosting the Freeman Invite on March 28th. The Quiz Bowl teams also hold an undefeated record all-time versus the school board!

3.2. Consideration and possible action to approve a Secondary candidate and contract for the 2022-2023 school year.
Rationale:
Due to a resignation, Freeman is hiring a 7-12 Science teacher for the 22-23 school year. Karli Busboom has been offered the position and accepted pending board approval. Ms. Busboom currently teaches at Norris Middle School and previously taught high school science at Shickley Public Schools.

3.3. Consideration and possible action to approve Before and After School program pricing for the 2022-2023 school year.
Rationale:
Current fees:
* Non-refundable registration fee of $20 for uninterrupted enrollment in the program * $5.75 per morning session * $7.75 per afternoon session * discount of $0.25 per afternoon session for additional siblings attending Current Drop-in fees: * Parents will be required to pay the non-refundable, one-time registration fee of $20 * $7.25 per morning session * $9.25 per afternoon session * $15.25 for sessions on early-out days The Administration recommends an increase of $0.50 per session and early-out days and an increase of $0.75 per session for drop-ins for 2022-2023. $6.25 per morning session $8.25 per afternoon session $8.00 per morning session (drop-in) $10.00 per afternoon session (drop-in) $15.75 for sessions on early-out days This proposed increase would offset an increase in compensation for Freeman's classified staff. |
3.4. Consideration and possible action to set Option Enrollment limits for 2022-2023 school year.
Rationale:
Limits to accept Option Enrollment Requests recommended as follows:
Grades K-3 limit is 38 currently enrolled Grades 4-6 limit is 40 currently enrolled Grades 7-12 limit is 46 currently enrolled Freeman has 39 students enrolled in 1st grade next year and there is currently an option waiting list. If the enrollment of students moving into our district reaches these recommended limits, the district will not accept NEW option students for that particular grade. This does not affect current option students. |

Rationale:
The school district purchased the parcel in October 2021. The adjacent parcel owner and the school district have discussed a potential easement agreement for a portion of the parcel.
