3. Review Checklist
Discussion:
The Committee went through the checklist from the NDE with the high school teachers. In doing so, it was found that many items of the checklist are being done and in fact are doing more than the law requires.
|
4. Next Steps
Discussion:
The Committee discussed the next steps to be taken. The physical evidence for items on the checklist will be attached.
A public meeting of the Committee will be held in December. A discussion was held discussing the committment or policy acknowledging those that are going into the service during graduation. It was determined that we are already doing this. The Committee will look into setting up flag etiquette training for staff and students. The Committee found that there is already some of this going in our observance of 9-11 in September and County Government day, which involves grades 7, 8, and 12. During the school day, students and staff say the Pledge of Allegiance daily model the appropriate behavior. The administration will look at holding dates open in the spring or summer schedule for staff training in appropriate flag etiquette training. Once the new civics curriculum becomes available from NDE, a copy will be made available to the committee online. Hearing no objections Mr. Collins adjourned the meeting at 6:55 p.m. |
