September 23, 2024 at 12:00 PM - Ainsworth Special Meeting

Rationale:  In 2023, the Legislature enacted LB 243 which imposed limits on a school district's ability to grow relative to the amount of tax ask.  In August of 2023, the Board decided to approve an additional 7% worth of growth, even though we did not intend to use it.  However, approving the added growth preserves the authority for the local Board and does not relinquish authority to the state.  

The purpose of this Special Meeting is for the Board to consider this again for 2024 and has the same option to approve an added 7%. The current political climate is quite uncertain and it is difficult to know where we stand and what our state financial support or restrictions will be.  Approving the added 7% gives us the added ability to grow our budget IF that would ever be deemed necessary by the Board.
