Rationale:
The week of July 22, we received a flyer from NASB announcing the Annual Area Membership Meetings. Our area meeting is September 4, 2024, beginning with registration and networking at 4:30 pm at the Lifelong Learning Center in Norfolk. The program includes keynotes and breakout sessions with a Networking Dinner & Awards/Recognition to complete the event. As members of NASB, participating fully is in our best interest. A preliminary count of those board members and administration attending will be taken at this meeting. Konnie will register our group for the event.
We each received an email from NASB indicating that all six of us will be recognized for our service to Nebraska School Boards at the September 4th Regional Meeting. It would be a strong sign of dedication and success if we could accept our recognition together. |

Agenda Item Type:
Information Item
Rationale:
On July 25, 2024, the US District Court of Eastern Missouri entered an order enjoining the US Department of Education from implementing the proposed Title IX regulations in six states, including Nebraska. As a result, the new Title IX regulations will not go into effect in Nebraska on August 1st. Justin Knight from Perry Law advises us to do the following at our August 19th Meeting:
1. Update Policy 1200 (Title IX) with the attached version to authorize the Superintendent to develop and distribute Title IX procedures; and 2. Rescind Policies 1220 and 1220z entirely. Pursuant to the new Policy 1200, the attached procedures can be implemented by the Superintendent and will replace Policies 1220 and 1220z. Depending on the court challenges, the procedures can be more easily updated by the Superintendent (as opposed to having the Board rescind or revise them). |
