Rationale:  (Please complete the sign-in sheet prior to the meeting.  A time limit of five minutes per individual is allowed and not more than twenty minutes per specific topic unless a majority of the Board Members present vote to extend the time limit.  No action will be taken on subjects that are not on the agenda.  No complaints shall orally be initiated against individual district employees or instructional materials used in the district.)

Rationale:  Minutes are attached. 

Rationale: 

• #110 Athletics - We transferred the board money from this account to the different groups and teams which is why there is such a large adjustment.
• #325 Cheer and Dance Club - The team paid for their national convention and received some more sponsor money and fundraiser money.
• #370 SOS - There were lots of events at home in October that helped bring money into the SOS account from concessions.
• #385 VB Club - The team raised money for the Dodge County Relay for Life in October.  The check will be sent to them in November.
• #713 Foundation - We balanced this account with the NBC Foundation which is where the large deposit coming from. 

Rationale: 

Mrs. Wright, Mrs. Nelson and myself completed three Family Consumer Science classroom tours in Oct.  We saw both culinary-style kitchens and updated family-style kitchenettes.  We received valuable information, and in some cases came away with more questions, but it definitely gave us a starting point for looking forward.  We are still hoping to visit a culinary/kitchenette combination in Lincoln.  In our discussion, we believe that works best for a MS/HS facility as we have students coming into the room who do not always have foundational knowledge, so more direct instruction needs to take place with all students at the same point in instruction.

 

Rationale: 

We have a new student who started in late September that qualifies for ELL services.  This student has no English language skills.  After a meeting with ESU #2 and Mark Brady from ESU #7, both schools provided a basic plan to assist students with limited English skills.  In our efforts to find a way to communicate, Mr. Sterup found an earbud made by Timekettle.  We have been experimenting with the unit and have found that with the unit, the teacher can speak in English and the student, after a slight delay, hears the same message in Spanish.  Again, we are just in the initial stages of using the technology, but so far we are very excited.

Rationale:  Planning has begun for the academic pep rally we host every year the day before Thanksgiving break.  During this pep rally we will recognize students in Math Counts, FPS, FFA events, 30+ ACT scores, along with many more.  Mrs. Miller this year is going to recognize the winners of the STEAM clubs pumpkin chunkin contest done in October and promote their upcoming activities.   As always, we will finish up the day with the One-Act play production for our student body.

Rationale:  The North Bend Foundation Board approved a request for the purchase of Appcentri for our junior and senior students.  Appcentri is an online software that allows students to search and complete scholarship applications.  Students house all their needed scholarship materials and use the stored documents to apply for scholarships.  Scholarships then are easily transferred to needed parties or can be printed in PDF form for viewing.  AppCentri also provides parents with a view of their students' progress in regards to completing scholarship applications. 

Rationale:  Veterans and Kindergarten and 1st grade families will join us on Friday, Nov. 10th at 2:30pm for the K & 1st Grade Veterans Program.  Our program will be held in the elementary gym and will be streamed on our YouTube Channel.

Rationale:  Parent Teacher Conferences- 95% participation from our families.

The attached document provides the major themes and learning for quarters 1 and 2 for reading and math.

Rationale:  Jon will take some time during his report to discuss the baseball information he submitted last month.  We hope to have the baseball coach from Pender join us as well, to talk about their program and answer questions.  He may join via phone or Zoom.
