Grades 8th-12th will dismiss at 2:30 to attend the fair, Mrs. Wright has created a Goosechase activity to encourage students to interact with the colleges/careers representatives. Students will have roughly an hour to go around and have conversations with the representatives and ask questions, and hopefully gain valuable insight into their future.

VI.B.b. World Classrooms
Agenda Item Type:
Action Item
Rationale:
World Classrooms has reached out about an opportunity for our students to attend a trip to Washington DC in the summer of 2025. The trip would be 4 days with flight, meals, hotel, and the complete educational program offered within the fee. Mrs. Saalfeld has indicated interest in being the staff member to organize and travel with the students. Prior to Covid, NBC high school students had an organization called Close Up. This program is similar to Close Up, but all programs and flights are taken care of by World Classroom. Alex from World Classroom will join us via Zoom to share information on the program and answer any questions you may have in regards to the trip. |
VI.B.c. In-service plan

Our next staff in-service is planned for February 19th. We have a busy day scheduled looking at our Winter NSCAS Growth scores, Perkins Revision Grant documentation, and School Improvement in which we are preparing for our April visit. During lunch, the Fun Force organized a potluck featuring staff members favorite foods. It should be a great day! |

VI.C.a. Elementary Activities
Agenda Item Type:
Action Item
Rationale:
Data Digs: we have been meeting as grade level teams to analyze recent benchmark data and make adjustments to instruction to best meet the needs of students.
Reading and Science: Morrill Hall has wonderful kits available for schools to rent with a focus on grade level science standards. Our reading and science curriculums allow for us to have cross-curricular connections and the kits are a great tool for teachers to use in their instruction. Some of our teachers have written NBC Foundation grants to help cover the cost of the kits. Parent Teacher Conferences: We have strong parent support for student learning and that was evident again with a great turn out for conferences. I very much appreciate Ms.Morgan's help with organizing high school student volunteers to provide babysitting at the elementary for parents on conference nights. We are lucky to have great high school kids who are willing to give up their evenings to help out! |
VI.D. ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR REPORT
Agenda Item Type:
Information Item
Rationale:
We are concluding or nearing a conclusion of many of our sports and activities for the 2023 - 2024 Winter Season.
Bowling has concluded in both Unified and Bowling. Would like to start by congratulating our bowlers on making State in Unified and having another solid season in Bowling. Also, would like to take a moment to thank Coach Dan Nelson. Dan has worn many different hats coaching at North Bend Central. With bowling season concluding it concludes a long history of coaching and service in the area of athletics and activities. We like to thank Coach Dan Nelson for all the time and efforts put in for our school district and for our kids here at North Bend Central. Thank you, Dan Nelson! Wrestling is coming down the to the wire. The girl’s wrestling team has completed its wrestling season. We had two girl wrestlers compete in Sub Districts for girls Wrestling this year. I would like to say thank you to Coach Ken Streff and Coach Holly Booze and of course the girl wrestlers who gave their time and efforts this season. They both grew a great deal during the season and looking forward to continued growth of our girl’s program in the future. The boys just completed District Wrestling (pending results as of this report.) We have stayed healthy and just had a great showing at GICC prior to districts. Basketball is coming down the stretch as well. The girls’ basketball squad just finished third in the East Husker Conference Tournament and is starting district play this week. We are the host for Sub District girls’ basketball this week. Our girls earned the number one seed in our sub district and that allows us to host this week. Congratulations to Coach Sterup on reaching 400 plus career wins earlier this year as well. The boys’ basketball team was able to win the East Husker Conference Tournament this past weekend and will be entering sub district play a week from now. The Dance squad just returned from their trip to Florida. I had asked Coach Mimick to share a bit about their experience: The NBC Dance Team had a wonderful experience at Nationals. We performed a high kick routine and a jazz routine. We placed 11th for jazz, with the top eight making it to finals. The caliber of teams at Nationals is impressive, we were able to reflect on how far we have come as a team and set new goals for our team to continue to improve with the hopes of being able to go again in the future. During our stay, we had team bonding, visited different Disney parks, and celebrated with teams from all over the US and other countries. It was an experience the team will never forget. We would also like to extend another thank you to our family, friends, and businesses that helped us raise the money to attend. I would also like to thank Mrs. Kylie Frana for jumping on board and helping coach the Cheer Squad with Randi to finish out the seasons. Shot clocks are coming. I have quoted the shot clocks with Daktronics and talked with other schools about their experience as well as had conversations with Mr. Ningen. They will be needed for next season with the NSAA approving shot clocks for all classes coming in April. Track has a few things that Mr. Roy Wright is going to be working with some others to get corrected. Some things that we are working to correct or fix are as follows: We will need to repaint a few exchange zones, clean up some long jump pits of debris and basic weed removal, fixing a few spots on the track that have been created due to some previous wind related issues. Finally we will also be installing and fixing the box area for pole to accommodate the pole vault system that will be arriving shortly. |
