Rationale: Welcome to the Oakland-Craig Public Schools Board of Education Meeting. The board welcomes patrons, and we appreciate your attendance at this board meeting. Members of the public are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas with the board during the agenda item labeled "Public Comment." Comments or questions from the audience at any other time during the meeting will be declared out of order.

We appreciate your willingness to abide by the rules of order. This is the only time during this meeting when the public may speak. Any person wishing to make public comment must abide by and adhere to applicable board policies, including, but not limited to the following:

Everyone wishing to speak must complete a speaker card (cards are located at the table near the entrance to this room).
Everyone who comes forward to speak must state your name, address, the name of any organization being represented and the topic you are addressing before you begin.
A time limit of 5 minutes is allotted for each speaker.
There is a total time limit of 60 minutes allotted for all speakers.
The board will not respond to comments or questions.
The board will not take action on the comments presented by the speakers but will direct the comments to appropriate staff members.
Offensive language and hostile or disorderly conduct will not be tolerated. In the event that the Board President determines any statement or comment constitutes offensive language or hostile or disorderly conduct, then the Board President will declare the person out of the order and the person will be prohibited from speaking further.
In the event that any person is unruly, abusive, or otherwise disrupts the meeting or the board’s conduct of business, such person may be removed from the meeting by law enforcement.

RESOLUTION SETTING THE PROPERTY TAX REQUEST

Rationale:

WHEREAS, Nebraska Revised Statute 77-1632 and 77-1633 provides that the Governing Body of Oakland-Craig Public Schools passes by a majority vote a resolution or ordinance setting the tax request; and

WHEREAS, a special public hearing was held as required by law to hear and consider comments concerning the property tax request;

NOW, THEREFORE, the Governing Body of Oakland-Craig Public Schools resolves that:

1.	The 2025-2026 property tax request be set at:

		General Fund:	$ 5,282,859.00
		Bond Fund:	$ 477,899.00
		Special Building Fund:	$ 484,581.00
	Qualified Capital Purpose Undertaking Fund:		$ -

2.	The total assessed value of property differs from last year’s total assessed value by 9.61 percent.

3.	The tax rate which would levy the same amount of property taxes as last year, when multiplied by the new total assessed value of property would be 0.866953 per $100 of assessed value.

4.	Oakland-Craig Public Schools proposes to adopt a property tax request that will cause its tax rate to be 0.856953 per $100 of assessed value.

5.	Based on the proposed property tax request and changes in other revenue, the total operating budget of Oakland-Craig Public Schools will increase last year’s budget by 7 percent.

6.	A copy of this resolution be certified and forwarded to the County Clerk on or before October 15, 2025.
