G.1. Proposed Amendments to Article 1 - Unit Management - First Reading
Rationale:
The Policy/Legislative Committee proposes the following amendments:
Section 1C-ESU #13 Mission, Vision, and Beliefs The role and mission of the educational service units is to serve as educational service providers in the state's system of elementary and secondary education. ESU #13 provides services to children from birth to age 21. Section 1, D 3 ESU #13 shall meet Section 3 B When soliciting names of potential candidates for Board membership, the Administrator shall do the following: 1. Publish notice of the vacancy one time in
Section 6 C 6i The administrator will secure advance approval from the Board President before attending any out of state convention. |

Rationale:
The Policy/Legislative Committee has reviewed Article 1, Section 6 and is proposing the "Code of Ethics" for certificated educators as adopted by the Nebraska Department of Education and the ethical code of the American Association of School Administrators be added to the end of this policy.

G.4. Student Program Handbooks and the ESU 13 Employee Handbook
Rationale:
Annually, the Board will review and approve the Meridian, LifeLink, Panhandle Beginnings, and Employee Handbooks.

G.5. Second Addendum to Administrator's Contract of Employment
Rationale:
State Statute 79-828 states that the administrator be evaluated twice during the first year of employment and at least once annually thereafter. In February, the Board approved a contract extension. Therefore, an addendum is necessary to follow Board Policy Article 1, Section 6 and evaluate the administrator annually.
