9.1. Modification of 2017-18 School Calendar
Speaker(s):  Dr. Chris Marczak
Rationale:

I request that the 2017-18 Maury County Public School calendar be adjusted to reflect Monday, February 19th, 2018 to be a full school day.  As a result of the cancellation of school due to the solar eclipse (8/21/17), the flu closing of schools (01/3-5/18), and the snow days closing of school (1/12-19/18) we have exceeded our allotment of inclement weather days, to date, by one day.  After discussing options such as extending the school year into the summer past May 21, 2018, allowing the school system to make up this one day will prevent this.
