Rationale:  The Bellevue Board of Education abides by the Nebraska Open Meetings Law.  A copy of the law is posted on the wall of our Board room.

Rationale: 

Tommy Wilson (6th grader at Twin Ridge) recipient of the ServeNebraska Step Forward Award for outstanding volunteer service and the prestigious AAA National Life Saving Award.

Rationale:  Administrative Recommendation: The information in sections  C, E and F were sent to all members of the Board of Education for review.  The administration recommends approval by consent of the items in section C of the agenda identified with an asterisk and receipt of the information and proposals in sections E and F identified with an asterisk.

Rationale:  Administrative Recommendation:  Approve the Minutes of the October 3, 2016, Board of Education meeting.

Rationale:  Administrative Recommendation:  Acknowledge receipt of the Treasurer's Report for October, 2016.

Rationale:  Administrative Recommendation:  Approve the payment of claims totaling $1,339,343.66.

Rationale:  Administrative Recommendation: Release (1) Bonnie Sanchez from her contract effective October 17, 2016.

Rationale: 

As part of the last three annual budgets, a $5 million dollar line of credit has been included to mitigate cash flow concerns due to the timing of tax payments.  Each year, the line of credit must be reauthorized, the current line of credit with Great Western bank matures on December 15, 2016.

Rationale: 

Twin Ridge 6th grade student Tommy Wilson was awarded the ServeNebraska Step Forward Award for outstanding volunteer service on October28, 2016. Tommy represented AAA Nebraska’s School Safety Patrol program, and was one of three finalists in the volunteer category for the prestigious award. This is one of the highest awards given in our state to recognize outstanding volunteer service. In May 2016, Tommy was the recipient of the AAA National Life Saving Award, for his heroic actions while serving as a School Safety Patroller. The last time a Nebraska student earned this honor was in 1988.  

Rationale: 

Bellevue East students took first place at the Young Women's Quiz Bowl in Seward during the week of October 17, 2016. Members of the team are: Kelly Speltz, Sam Seaman, Paige Haskins, and Richelle Ratzburg.

Rationale: 

Bellevue East students also competed in the Concordia University Geography/History Quiz Bowl. They finished 2nd out of 14 teams in the large school division with their only loss of the day coming in a close defeat to Creighton Prep in the championship match. Members of the team are: Greyson Kreis, Kelly Speltz, Bobby Storck, and Baxter Knee.

Rationale: 

Bellevue West math teacher, Angie Daughtrey, was recently selected for the University of Chicago's Outstanding Educator Award. This distinguished award has existed for more than three decades. Each year, entering first-year students are invited to nominate an educator who has influenced them, challenged them, or helped them along the path toward intellectual growth.

The administration annually updates the Board about student performance as measured by various indicators. Tonight's update will include information about NeSA assessment results.
