The Bellevue Board of Education abides by the Nebraska Open Meetings Law.  A copy of the law is posted on the wall of our Board room.

Administrative Recommendation: The information in sections B, D and E  were sent to all members of the Board of Education for review.  The administration recommends approval by consent of the items in section B of the agenda identified with an asterisk and receipt of the information and proposals in sections D and E identified with an asterisk.

Rationale:  Administrative Recommendation(1) Katherine Endris and Maggie Young be released from their contracts effective May 21, 2020.

The administration will ask the board for approval for the purchase of tools from multiple vendors totaling $119,000 to be used as part of the curriculum for the automotive program at the Career and Technical Education building.

Congratulations to Ty Kiviniemi on being elected as a State Officer. This is the first time since the 2008-2009 school year that a DECA student from Bellevue West has served as a State Officer.

Rationale: 

Bellevue West social studies teacher Tara Patomson won the Golden Apple Award which is given annually from the Omaha Chapter of BYU Alumni to local high school teachers.

Her nomination essay was written by Bellevue West senior Samuel Thrower.

Rationale:  Bellevue East Economics Challenge students competed against several area high schools at the Nebraska Economics Challenge. The team was led by PK Simmons.

Rationale: 

The University of Nebraska-Omaha College of Education awarded Bellevue West teachers Jodi Grice and Traci Grimm as Exemplary Cooperating Teachers. The COE recognized them for their outstanding mentorship for clinical practice and practicum students.

 

Rationale: 

Bellevue East HOSA students involved in writing events competed at State HOSA even though the conference was canceled. Kayleigh Adzaufi was named the 2020 Nebraska State Champion in Physical Therapy. She qualified to represent Bellevue East and Nebraska at the International Leadership Conference.

Rationale:  Bellevue East and Bellevue West FBLA competed virtually at this year's State Leadership Conference.

In July, the Board will be asked to approve for publication the 2020-21 budget.  Tonight, the Board will be given a report on the progress of the current budget and the forecast for spending and revenue for 2020-21.

 

Rationale: 

The administration will give a brief update on the extended closure of Bellevue Public Schools from the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Rationale: 

Tonight the administration will give the Board an update of Priority #4 Engaging Our Community and Priority #5 Allocation of Resources.
