Rationale: 

The Bellevue Board of Education abides by the Nebraska Open Meetings Law.  A copy of the law is posted on the wall of our Board room.

Rationale: 

Administrative Recommendation: The information in sections C and F were sent to all members of the Board of Education for review.  The administration recommends approval by consent of the items in section C of the agenda identified with an asterisk and receipt of the information and proposals in section F identified with an asterisk.

Rationale: 

Administrative Recommendation:  Approve the Minutes of the October 9, 2017 Board of Education meeting.

Rationale: 

Administrative Recommendation:  Acknowledge receipt of the Treasurer's Report for October, 2017.

Rationale: 

Administrative Recommendation:  Approve the payment of claims totaling $2,057,714.67.

Rationale: 

Administrative Recommendation: (1) Timothy DeHaas be released from his contract effective October 13, 2017.

Rationale: 

Administrative Recommendation: (1) Samantha Brown be elected to the certified staff for the 2017-18 school year effective November 6, 2017 subject to her release from any contractual agreements with other school districts.

Rationale: 

As part of the last four annual budgets, a $5 million line of credit has been included to mitigate cash flow concerns due to the timing of tax payments.  Each year, the line of credit must be reauthorized, the current line of credit with Great Western bank matures on December 15, 2017.

Administration's Recommendation: Approve a resolution to renew our $5 million line of credit with Great Western Bank.

 

 

Rationale: 

The Board will receive an update on bond projects.

 

Rationale: 

A member of the Bond Oversight Committee will provide a report to the Board.

Rationale: 

Joe Mangiamelli, City of Bellevue Administrator and Rich Severson, City of Bellevue Finance Director will provide an update to the Board on Tax Increment Financing.

Rationale: 

The administration will give the Board an update on the progress of the BPS Strategic Plan.

Rationale: 

Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences were held in each school the week of October 16, 2017.

The following indicates the average attendance of parents and students at each level:

Activities held in conjunction with conferences included PTA book fairs, academic informational displays, community resources, Education Quest, mini-sessions on different parent resources and transition meetings.

Rationale:  Public Comment pertaining to items not otherwise on the Agenda must be submitted to the Secretary of the Board five days prior to the Board meeting.  There were no items submitted for Public Comment for this meeting.
