D.1. *Bellevue West Forensics

Rationale:
The Bellevue West Forensics team competed at Millard North January 8th. The team placed 5th overall. Individual finalists were: Nevaeh Seward, 6th in honors impromptu and 6th in poetry; Carter Hamblin, top novice and 4th in honors oratory; Ashlee Leighty, 3rd in honors informative and 3rd in oratory; and Robyn Boyland, Original Oratory Champion. Robyn and Ashlee earned their second bids to the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions in May and will compete in oratory at that tournament.
The team competed (virtually) at Omaha Westside (virtually, thanks snow) on January 14th. Individual results were: Kilee Wilkinson, 4th in Informative and Andrew Hedin, 5th in Humorous Interp. The team also competed at Raymond Central on January 15th. The team finished 5th overall. Individual finalists were: Robyn Boyland, 3rd in Program of Oral Interp and 1st in honor oratory; Ashlee Leighty, 5th in honors informative and 6th in oratory; and Eme Starbuck, 4th in oratory and qualified to the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions in May. The novice team competed at Bennington GOLD on January 20th. Individual finalists were: Kamryn Thomas, 6th in Oratory; Britton Yates, 5th in HI; and Elisha Gaiter, 4th in HI. Members of the novice team competed at the Fremont Invitational on January 21st. Individual finalists were: Kilee Wilkinson and Tristan Tyson, 6th in Duo Interpretation. The team competed January 22nd at the Lincoln Southwest tournament. The team placed 5th overall. Individual results were: Carter Hamblin, Semifinalist in Oratory and earned his first national bid; Ashlee Leighty, Semifinalist in Oratory and Informative (already qualified to National Individual Events Tournament of Champions); Andrew Hedin and Lexie Dinverno, 6th in Duo Interpretation; Tamyia Bender, 4th in Oratory (qualified for NIETOC) and POI Champion (qualified for NIETOC); and Robyn Boyland, POI runner-up (earned first national bid) and Oratory Champion (already qualified to NIETOC). The BW team had a great showing at Millard West's Winter Wonderland on January 29th. The team finished 4th overall. Individual finalists were: Carter Hamblin, 6th in extemporaneous (earned one bid to National Individual Events Tournament of Champions in May); Aarj Patel, 6th in extemporaneous honors finals; Lexie Dinverno and Andrew Hedin, 6th in Duo Interpretation; Andrew Hedin, Top Novice in Humorous Interpretation, 2nd in Humorous Interpretation (earned one bid to NIETOC); Bri Narick, Top Novice in poetry and oratory, 6th in oratory honors finals (earned second NIETOC bid and qualified for the national competition), and 3rd place in poetry honors finals; and Tamyia Bender, Oratory Champion and POI Champion. |

The following programs and services will be offered to students during Summer 2022.
Summer School Summer School will be offered for elementary students entering grades K-6th from June 6-24. Secondary summer school will be offered for students entering grades 7th-12th from June 6 through July 1. Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Camps STEM Camps provide in-depth curriculum experiences at high levels for incoming 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. All three camps integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics into the classes. The Camps will be offered in three one-week sessions from June 27 - July 15 at the Bellevue Public Schools Support Center and Lied Activity Center. Cost of each camp is $100, except the week of July 4th with a cost of $80 per camp and registration begins the week of February 21st. |
