The Bellevue West Forensics team competed at Omaha Marian on February 11th and at Lincoln North Star on February 12th.The team placed 3rd at Omaha Marian. Individual results were: Elise Curtis, 5th in honors finals Dramatic Interp; Joe Reimer, 3rd in Impromptu; Sophia Byington, 5th in Entertainment; Bri Narick, 4th in Poetry and 2nd in Oratory; and Tamyia Bender, 3rd in Program of Oral Interp and 1st in Oratory. The results for Lincoln North Star were: Kilee Wilkinson, 6th in honors finals Informative and Ashlee Leighty, 6th in Informative and 1st in Oratory.
The Bellevue West Forensics team competed on February 18th at Lincoln East. The team finished 7th out of 25 teams. Individual finalists were: Bri Narick, top novice in Oratory, 4th in oratory honors finals and 5th in poetry honors finals; Eme Starbuck, 6th in Dramatic Interp and 3rd in merit finals oratory; and Andrew Hedin and Lexie Dinverno, 6th in DUO Interpretation. Congratulations to Bellevue West Forensics members who competed at the 48th annual Harvard University Invitational. Robyn Boyland, Ashlee Leighty, and Tamyia Bender competed at the largest tournament in the country, and participated in six competitive events. Robyn Boyland placed 5th in Program of Oral Interpretation, making her the first Bellevue West student to final at Harvard and making her 5th in the country as she moves into the post-season. She was also a quarterfinalist in Original Oratory. Tamyia Bender was an octafinalist in Program of Oral Interpretation and a quarterfinalist in Original Oratory. Ashlee Leighty was an octafinalist in Original Oratory and a quarterfinalist in Informative. Congratulations to the Bellevue West Forensics team who competed at the National Speech and Debate Association National Qualifier February 26th. Bellevue West has three qualifiers heading to nationals in Louisville, KY this June. Qualifiers are: Robyn Boyland in Program of Oral Interpretation, Tamyia Bender in Oratory, and Ashlee Leighty in Oratory. Other finalists were: Andrew Hedin and Lexie Dinverno 4th place in DUO; Aarj Patel 3rd place and first alternate in U.S. Extemp; and Robyn Boyland 1st place in Original Oratory. |
