Bellevue West competed at Omaha Westside's novice tournament December 2nd. Individual results: Nitcha Khammahavong, 3rd, Informative and Olivia Stone, 4th, Humorous Interpretation.
The varsity team competed at Papio South on December 3rd & placed 2nd as a team to Millard North. Individual results: Nevaeh Seward, 5th Impromptu & 4th Poetry; Kilee Wilkinson, 2nd POI; Tristan Tyson & Kilee Wilkinson, Duo Champions; Lexie Dinverno, Dramatic Interpretation Champion; Eme Starbuck, Oratory Champion; Bri Narick, Poetry Champion; and Sarah Breaux, Informative Champion. Papio South was a National Individual Events Tournament of Champions bid tournament. The following students earned their first bid to nationals. Students must earn two bids to qualify for the national competition: Eme Starbuck, Original Oratory; Sarah Breaux, Informative; and Lexie Dinverno, Dramatic Interpretation. Bellevue West competed at the Lincoln High Capital City Classic on December 9th. The team placed 5th. Individual results: Tamyia Bender, POI Champion; Andrew Hedin & Lexie Dinverno, Duo Champions; Carter Hamblin, Impromptu Champion, 4th place oratory honors finalist; Aarj Patel, 2nd Impromptu; Lexie Dinverno, 3rd DI; Nathan Deters, 6th Novice HI; Olivia Stone, 1st Novice HI Honors Finalist; and Tristan Tyson, Elise Curtis, Lexie Dinverno, Aspen Glotfelty, 3rd Oral Interpretation of Drama. Bellevue West had another great competition at the Lincoln Southeast Holiday Joust on December 16th. The team placed 3rd overall. Head coach, Becca Hier, was awarded the Excalibur Award for Community, Commitment, and Competition. The Excalibur Award is presented annually to an "outstanding individual for contributions to the forensics community." The award is in memory of legendary Raymond Central forensics coach, Dan Johnson, who died in 2008. Individual student results: Andrew Hedin & Lexie Dinverno, 2nd DUO Interpretation; Kilee Wilkinson & Tristan Tyson, 5th DUO Interpretation; Tamyia Bender, 3rd POI; Kilee Wilkinson, 4th POI; Shaylee Hobbs, 2nd honors finals POI & Top Novice; Eli Gaiter, 5th honors finals HI; Nathan Deters, Top Novice in HI; Carter Hamblin, 3rd Impromptu honors finals, 6th Oratory merit finals, 5th honors extemp finals; Sarah Breaux, 3rd Informative merit finals; Bri Narick, 4th Poetry; and Lexie Dinverno, 3rd DI honors finals. Eli and Carter earned their first bids to qualify for NIETOC Nationals in humorous interpretation and extemporaneous. Sarah Breaux earned her second bid in informative, qualifying her for the NIETOC National Tournament. Current NIETOC Qualifiers: Andrew and Lexie, DUO; Tristan and Kilee, DUO; Tamyia, POI and Oratory; Lexie, DI ; Carter - Oratory; and Sarah - Informative. |

The Air Force Junior ROTC instructors and cadets of Bellevue West High School in Bellevue, NE earned an overall unit assessment score of "Exceeds Standards"...the highest rating attainable...during their evaluation on November 29, 2022. Col (Ret) Stephen S. Vanderhoof and SMSgt (Ret) Guy A. Hale created a dynamic and supportive learning environment coupled with an excellent community outreach. The instructors provided outstanding leadership in administering the cadet centered citizenship program. The Bellevue West High School cadets performed exceptionally well and took great pride in leading and accomplishing their unit goals. The Bellevue West High School Air Force Junior ROTC citizenship program is making a positive impact on the cadets, the school and the community. Their "Exceeds Standards" result is the second straight for the Headquarters AFJROTC inspection. In addition, their last inspection (2018) resulted in the Distinguished Unit with Merit award, the first in 41 years (according to HQ AFJROTC).

Congratulations to the Bellevue West Unified Bowling team on their A-2 District Championship and Bellevue East Unified Bowling on their A-2 District Runner-up finish.
Bellevue West Unified Bowling finished 7th in the preliminary seeding round at State and faced Fremont in the quarterfinals. They defeated Fremont in a 5 match thriller and advanced to the semifinals taking on Columbus. Bellevue West was defeated in the semifinal round by Columbus. Congratulations to both high school teams on an outstanding season! |
