As part of the annual budget, a $5 million line of credit has been included to mitigate cash flow concerns due to the timing of tax payments. Each year, the line of credit must be reauthorized. The current line of credit with First Interstate Bank matures on December 15, 2024.

Congratulations to Bellevue East and Bellevue West Journalism on their success at the Nebraska High School Press Association.
The Tom Tom newspaper and the Chieftain yearbook each won a Cornhusker award this year. The Cornhusker is the highest award for journalistic excellence given by NHSPA. In addition to the award, Bellevue East was also recognized with 2024 All-Nebraska Award presented in recognition of outstanding scholastic journalism whose publications have earned two or more Cornhuskers Awards in a single academic year. The Bellevue West journalism students were recognized at the NHSPA fall convention on Oct. 21 for their work during the 2023-2024 school year with the following awards: The Thunderbeat website earned a rating of Distinction; the Thunderbird yearbook earned a rating of Superior; and the Thunderbeat magazine earned a Cornhusker award, the highest award possible. This is the first Cornhusker awarded to BW journalism students since 2004, and it includes work from newspaper and yearbook students. |
