September 26, 2011 at 7:30 AM - Special Meeeting 9-26-11

Rationale:  It is 7:30 AM and I now call to order the Grand Island Public Schools Board of Education Special Meeting.  This is the September 26, 2011 special meeting.  Notice of this meeting has been advertised in the Grand Island Independent, which is the District's designated method of giving notice of these meetings.

We want those in attendance to know that copies of the Open Meetings Act are available at the entrance to the Board Room.  If anyone in attendance is interested in addressing our Board, you are welcome to do so.  We simply request that you complete the appropriate form and turn it in to us now so that you may be recognized during the Public Forum part of our meeting.  These forms are also located by the entry doors of this room.

Rationale:  Roll Call.

Rationale:  The Labor Relations Committee and the GIEA Negotiating Committee have met and negotiated in good faith during the last four months to achieve the proposed two year contract agreement. This agreement does align with the districts 2011-2012 budget and it also provides a competitive compensation and benefits package for the covered staff.

Rationale:  The proposed increase for classified staff insures the district maintains equity between its two largest employee groups, aligns with the districts 2011-2012 budget and provides for a competitive wage within the local labor market.

Rationale:  In keeping with the districts early commitment to lead by example, to support the districts efforts to achieve an overall decrease in expenditures, all administrators salaries will be frozen for the 2011-2012 contract year.
