Grand Island Public Schools enjoys a strong working relationship with the Grand Island Public Schools Foundation. A memo of agreement has been created through a collaborative by board members and administrators from each entity. The memo of agreement helps to clarify the working relationship between the two entities. This memo of agreement is being provided for review by the Grand Island Public Schools Board of Education at the February Board Meeting and for consideration for final approval by the Grand Island Public School Board of Education at their March 10th Board Meeting.

13.4. Credit Agreement for Medical Science Academy Project

Grand Island Public Schools currently has a $2.5 million dollar line of credit with Home Federal Bank, which is required for the Medical Science Academy funding. The agreement for the line of credit is expiring and needs to be renewed for another year. Kurt Haecker of Home Federal is requesting that the Grand Island Public School Board authorize board president, Mrs. Lisa Albers, to renew the agreement. Home Federal did not provide a copy of the document in advance of the board meeting, but will provide a copy of the document after Mrs. Albers is authorized by the board to sign the agreement.

GIPS Switching equipment is end of life and will be 8 years old when the replacements are installed. In addition increased port counts have happened due to newer wireless technology requiring more switch ports. Using the ERate funding mechanism, GIPS is proposing to replace their entire edge and aggregation IP switches in the schools.
