October 15, 2009 at 6:30 PM - Build America Bonds Hearing

Rationale:  BUILD AMERICA BONDS HEARING
It is 6:30 p.m. on October 15, 2009 and I now convene this Public Hearing on the issuance of taxable series 2009 bonds (Build America Bonds) of the Grand Island Public Schools. Notice of this hearing has been advertised in the Grand Island Independent, which is the District’s designated method of giving notice of public hearings.  If anyone in attendance is interested in addressing our board, you are welcome to do so.  We simply request that you complete the appropriate form so that you may be recognized.

Rationale:  To hear comments on (1) the District’s itemized estimate of amounts necessary to be expended for the construction, expansion, rehabilitation, modernization, renovation, repairing and/or equipping of public school facilities for use by the District and/or for the acquisition of land on which such public school facilities are to be located (the "Project"); (2) the District’s issuance of its Limited Tax Obligation Build America Bonds (the "Bonds") in the estimated aggregate principal amount of not to exceed $5,500,000 to pay the costs of the Project; and (3) the District’s levying of a limited tax not to exceed 5.2 cents for a period not to exceed 30 years to pay the principal of and the interest on the Bonds.

Rationale:  Patrons desiring to address the Board concerning the proposed 2009-2010 budget will be given an opportunity to speak.  President of the Board will assign a time limit for each presenter.
