2.1. Budget and Tax Levy Update
Rationale:
NDE emailed districts on Friday with a new interpretation regarding how the tax levy is set in regards to the County Treasurer's Commission Balance and calculation of the Levy Limit. Superintendents on Wednesday August 30th received additional information which essentially rescinded what was sent out on Friday. Attached is the information districts received on Friday Aug. 25th and Wednesday August 30th for clarification. The latest interpretation keeps the proposed budget and tax request as was presented at the workshop on August 24th.

3. Action Items

3.1. Discuss, consider and take action regarding a contract for a teaching position at the Senior High
Rationale:
Heather Wingate 2017-2018 - Senior High School, Achievement Center Teacher Master of Science Degree in Counseling and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Psychology 7-12 from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska. Currently is a counselor at Good Life Counseling and Support, also an alternative education instructor for Northeast Nebraska Juvenile Services. One year contract for the Senior High Achievement Center. Heather is currently subbing in this position, which became available when we transferred Derek Volker to the Middle School Autism/Life Program.
Recommended Motion(s):
Motion to approve the one-year contract for Heather Wingate at the Senior High passed with a motion by Board Member #1 and a second by Board Member #2.

4. Future Meetings
Rationale:
Our next Board meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 11th. The Study Session will begin at 5:30 and will be followed by Budget and Tax Hearings and our Business Meeting at 6:30. All components of the meeting will be held at the Central Administration Office and will be open to the public unless an Executive Session is required to protect the interest of the district or to prevent needless harm to the reputation of an individual. |
