|
6.2. Policy Committee Report
Rationale:
The Policy Committee met on June 23rd to review administrative rules to ensure that they are consistent with Board Policies.
Administrative Rules are written to clarify district policies and procedures. Typically, they are more detailed than Board policy, as they outline the operations of our schools. Many of our Administrative Rules are contained within our student or staff handbooks. Others are maintained in the Superintendent's office. Administrative Rules do not need to be approved by the Board unless specified in state statute. However, they must always be consistent with Board Policy. Mrs. Nelson highlighted the Administrative Rule regarding our Media Selection process during her Teaching and Learning Report. This AR was created recently in response to questions within the community and across the nation regarding library materials. |
6.3. Norfolk Public Schools Foundation Committee Report
Rationale:
The Norfolk Public Schools Foundation Board of Directors met on June 20th, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. Thirteen board members were present. Applications are currently being accepted for NPSF’s Dual Credit Scholarships. The deadline is 8/12/22. 125 scholarships at $100 each are available to NHS students, courtesy of the Margaret Robinson Memorial Endowment. Big Give was held on 5/24/2022 and $1,475 was raised to fill the Panther Pantry. The Panther Pantry program will help serve the needs of the students at the High School, Junior High, and Middle School. The funding will allow NPS to purchase ready to go food items, personal hygiene products, clothing, and other identified needs. Congratulations to the 2022 Classroom Grant recipients! The Classroom Grant selection committee met in May and selected 34 classroom grants. This year's grants included (2) Furstenau K-6 Science Grants, (2) Class of 1969 classroom grants, (1) Woodland Park Science Day grant, and (29) NPSF classroom grants for a total of $20,574.84 that will benefit students across Norfolk Public Schools at all grade levels. 8.8. Discuss, consider and take action to approve the updated COVID-19 Return to In-Person Instruction Plan
Rationale:
The U.S. Department of Education requires that we review and update this plan every 6 months throughout the ESSERS grant period, which ends September 2024.
The COVID-19 Return to In-Person Instruction Committee reviewed this plan electronically and approved the updates. Committee members did not feel that an in-person meeting was necessary, as COVID levels are low and the plan that we have in place has been working well when levels spike. At this point, we are following the Quarantine and Isolation Guidelines published by the CDC on May 30, 2022 and utilizing the Quarantine Calculator located at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/quarantine-isolation.html. If these guidelines change, we will update our procedures accordingly. See attachments for further details.
Recommended Motion(s):
