DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES
· Kindergarten Roundups are scheduled this month in our elementary schools. It is hoped the numbers are current and accurate as we prepare to act on Boundary Exception requests later this month.
· TeamMates of Norfolk is having their One-Hour Walk on Sunday 19 April at Norfolk Senior High School. Activities will begin at 1:00 in the Senior High Gym and then we will move to Carson Field. Funds raised from this “One Hour Walk” will assist with TeamMates Mentee Scholarships and defray some operating expenditures.
· April 28, NPS and the Norfolk Arts Center are hosting a “Link-UP” Concert with the Omaha Symphony. Two-hundred thirty five (235) upper elementary students have been practicing on their recorders under the direction of their music teachers- Dawn Moore, Nancy Nissen, Nancy Woeppel and Bonnie Begeman--in preparation for the afternoon concert with the symphony. I’m told it has been great fun and a learning experience for all.
· Mr. Todd Cook, with the assistance of his fellow NPS Band instructors, will host a 5th grade band concert for parents and friends on Monday, May 4that 6:00 p.m. at the Junior High. The NPS Music Boosters are assisting with providing supper for these 88 band students and they will be entertained with a concert by the 8th grade band. Students and staff are anticipating a great afternoon and evening of instrumental music.
· A reminder that the Norfolk Arts Center is hosting the Norfolk Public Schools K-12 Art Show during the month of April. The Arts Center hours are Tuesday-Friday from 9:00-5:00 and Saturday from 12:00-5:00. This is a great showcasing for our NPS district. I certainly hope you can stop in and have a look.
