3.E. Approval of KHS Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band Trip to Greeley Jazz Festival
Rationale:  The KHS Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band are requesting to attend the Greeley Jazz Festival, April 19-21, 2017 in Greeley,Co.  The trip will cost $150 per student and is voluntary. 
Recommended Motion(s):  Move to approve the KHS Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band trip to the Greeley Jazz Festival, April 19-21, 2017, with no cost incurred by the school district.
3.F. Approval of Employment of Additional 5th Grade Teacher at Buffalo Hills Elementary School
Rationale:  We will ask the Board of Education to approve the employment of an additional 5th grade teacher at Buffalo Hills Elementary School for the 2017-2018 school year, to address increased student numbers.

4. Regular Agenda - Personnel
4.A. Acceptance of Resignations & Retirement Resignations
Rationale: 

We have received letters of resignation from Laura Dircksen, special education teacher at Kearney High School; and Trish Weiers, kindergarten teacher at Meadowlark Elementary School; as well as retirement resignations from Sue Springer, vocal music teacher at Sunrise Middle School, Mark Urwiller, science teacher at Kearney High School; Stacey Russell, math teacher at Sunrise Middle School;  Rhonda King, 2nd grade teacher at Kenwood Elementary School; Genny Wolf, special education teacher at Kearney High School; and Rick Lindeman, science teacher at Kearney High School. These resignations are effective the end of the 2016-2017 school year.

4.B. Ratification of the Negotiated Agreement with the Kearney Education Association for the 2017-2018 School Year
Rationale: 

The Board of Education has completed the negotiations process with the Kearney Education Association for contract terms for the 2017-2018 school year, so we will ask the Board of Education to ratify the Negotiated Agreement.

Recommended Motion(s):  Move to ratify the Negotiated Agreement with the Kearney Education Association for all non-supervisory certificated employees of the Kearney Public Schools for the 2017-2018 school year.
Action(s):
Move to ratify the Negotiated Agreement with the Kearney Education Association for all non-supervisory certificated employees of the Kearney Public Schools for the 2017-2018 school year. Angie -w ant to recognize the hard work of the team. I will vote aginst it but doesn't reflect the teachers but need to follow by Chris - 5 of 6 schools have settled and average is 3.48% of the 5. Alex - difficult year for negotiations and looking at state budget issues. Tough negotiations this year and seeing how the other schools settled, try to have fair deal for teachers and taxpayers. Passed with a motion by Mrs. Kathy Gifford and a second by Julie Agard.

5. Regular Agenda - Miscellaneous
5.A. Nomination for NASB Legislative Committee Member #9
Rationale:  The position of Legislative Committee Member #9 will become open and Kearney Public Schools is part of that NASB region, so we may nominate someone from our Board of Education to serve in this capacity.  Julie Agard currently holds this position.
Recommended Motion(s):  Move to nominate_____________for the position of NASB Legislative Committee Member #9, and authorize the administration to submit said nomination to the NASB.

Alex - 4 schools? Julie - They will nominate a candidate as well. Alex - Odd mix. Julie - Maybe my school population, not geographic. Passed with a motion by Julie Agard and a second by Mrs. Kathy Gifford.
