We will ask the Board of Education to recognize the KHS 2022 State Runner-up Boys' Tennis team and coaches.

2.B. Recognition of the KHS Football Team for Team Academic Excellence Award
Rationale:
The Nebraska Coaches' Association, the National Football Foundation, and Sideline Power presented the first-ever Team Academic Excellence Awards and KHS was one of only ten schools across all of Nebraska in all classes to be recognized with this honor. The KHS football team received a cumulative GPA of 3.690, which is Nebraska's highest team GPA submitted per classification.

3.A. Kenwood School Report on ASCEND Academy
Rationale:
Jill Clevenger will report on her perspective and experience with the ASCEND Academy at Kenwood School.

3.B. District Financial Audit Report
Rationale:
Mindy Oman of KSO accounting firm, will report to the Board of Education on the financial audit of the school district that was conducted in September for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.

3.C. Announcement of "American Education Week"
Rationale:
President Kreis will announce that "American Education Week" is being observed this week in the Kearney Public Schools and throughout the country. On Tuesday, November 15, Kearney Public Schools and UNK will co-host a reception for new staff members and members of the community in the atrium at the new Discovery Hall on the UNK campus, from 4:00 to 5:30 P.M. Other activities will be conducted in the school buildings to observe this special week.

4. Public Participation/Comment
Rationale:
Board meetings may have on the agenda, a specific time entitled Public Participation/Comment, during which patrons may address the Board on matters of general concern. No public body shall require members of the public to identify themselves as a condition for admission to the meeting, nor shall such body require that the name of any members of the public be placed on the agenda prior to such meeting in order to speak about items on the agenda. Patrons wishing to address the Board during the Public Participation/Comment will be allowed up to five (5) minutes per speaker to express their view. Public Participation/Comment may not exceed sixty (60) total minutes. The Board-imposed time limits may be extended by a majority vote of the Board, following a motion to do so. Board action may not be taken on matters discussed during the Public Participation/Comment, unless the matter specifically appears on the prepared agenda. Board of Education members will refrain from expressing personal opinions during Public Participation/Comment.
Any members of the public desiring to address the body shall be required to sign in with the recording secretary prior to the start of the meeting and identify himself or herself, including an address, phone number, and name of any organization represented by such person, unless the address and phone number requirement is waived to protect the security of the individual. |

Rationale:
The Board of Education gave the new Policy 7220.1 (Construction Manager at Risk) first reading approval in October. Having received no additional comments or concerns regarding this proposed policy, we will ask the Board of Education to delete the old Policy 7220.1 and give second and final reading approval to the new Policy 7220.1.

6.F. Approval of KHS Art Students' Trip to Hays, Kansas, December 16-18, 2022 for Ceramic Symposium at Fort Hays State University
Rationale:
Katrina Olmstead, art teacher at Kearney High School is asking Board approval for a group of KHS art students to attend the Ceramic Symposium at Fort Hays State University, December 16-18, 2022. Eight students plan to make the trip and they will travel in a school van with the sponsor.

Rationale:
We will ask the Board of Education to approve the employment of Erikka Rhodes, at BA, Step 1, as a 1.00 FTE special education academic transition teacher at Kearney High School, effective January 4, 2023.
Erikka will earn her BA from UNK with an endorsement in Special Education K-12 in December. She student taught at Emerson Elementary and Kearney High School. Her experience includes being a special education para at Horizon Middle School and a substitute teacher for KPS.

We will ask the Board of Education to consider approval of a 12-month contract with Health Management Systems of America to provide a Student Assistance Program for all students in grades 6-12 in the Kearney Public Schools, beginning January 1, 2023. The cost of the program will be $6.50 per student, per month, for an estimated total cost of $215,982.00.
