4.f. Approve Early Resignation Incentive
Background:
The Board approved the early resignation agreement at the November board meeting. The following teachers have submitted their resignations early and therefore qualify for the early resignation incentive in the amount of $1000.00 per 5.12 in the MEA Negotiated Agreement.

5. Conflict of Interest Waivers
Background:
Board members and school administrators/officials need to request a conflict of interest waiver before participating in or voting upon a decision concerning an application in which that member has a direct personal or financial interest.

6. Open Forum
Background:
Open Forum is an opportunity for patrons to share their thoughts and concerns. The school board will listen, but no discussion takes place and there will not be board action. Board members may ask clarifying questions. The protocol established for open forum is to provide a time limit of three minutes to share concerns. If a patron would like to have a two-way discussion, they are encouraged to schedule a meeting with the superintendent.

7.a. Character Education Word of the Month
Background:
The Character Education Trait for the month of January is "Respect," which includes honor, tolerance, consideration, self-respect, respect for others, and respect for property.

7.b. Gifted & Talented Students Participate in Fall 2023 Noetic Learning Math Contest
Background:
Several elementary and middle school TAG students participated and earned several awards during the Noetic Learning Math Contest.

7.c. Academic Achievement
Background:
The Meade School District was recently recognized by ASBSD for scoring above the state average in three subject areas - English Language Arts, Mathematics and Science - of the annual state assessments.

7.d. Sturgis VFW Donates Funds to Food Service Department
Background:
The Sturgis VFW Post 2730 donated $3000.00 to go towards unpaid student lunch accounts.

7.e. Stagebarn Middle School School Resource Officer Receives Recognition
Background:
Summerset Police Officer and Stagebarn MS SRO, Colton Juso received two commendations at the American Legion Post 311 on Thursday, January 4.
•American Legion District 1 Officer of the Year •American Legion Piedmont Valley Post 311 Officer of the Year These awards are presented to a well-rounded law enforcement officer who has exceeded the duty requirements expected of his position and has demonstrated a distinct pattern of community service coupled with professional achievement. 9.b. Schedule School Board Study Session
Background:
Mr. Wormstadt is recommending a study session be scheduled for Monday, January 29, 2024, at 5:30 pm per School Board Policy BDB: School Board Study Sessions and Work Retreats.

9.c. Williams Administrative Building Boiler Replacement Project
Background:
The Business Office and Buildings & Grounds Department are requesting authorization to advertise for bids for services for the Williams Administrative Building Boiler Replacement Project. The official advertisement will run between January 10 and January 17, 2024. Bids will be accepted until January 24 at 1:30 pm and then opened the same day.

9.d. Approve Joint Election
Background:
Business Manager, Brett Burditt, is requesting authorization from the Board to hold a combined county and school district election with Meade County Auditor in June of 2024.

9.e. SBHS East Campus Haying Lease
Background:
Business Manager, Brett Burditt is requesting authorization from the Board to advertise the hay lease at SBHS East Campus for two years, for 2024 and 2025.

10. Discussion Items

10.a. January Teacher In-Service
Background:
Teacher In-Service is scheduled for Monday, January 15. The agenda is located on the Meade School District website. This day is Martin Luther King Day and a no-school day for students.

10.b. 2024-25 School Calendar Error
Background:
There is an error on the 2024-25 school academic calendar. Native American Day is on Monday, October 14, 2024, not as indicated on the calendar (Monday, October 7). We are discussing whether to move teacher in-service or keep it the same and create two 3-day weekends or keep to the traditional 4-day weekend.
