6. Open Forum
Background:
Open Forum is an opportunity for patrons to share their thoughts and concerns. The school board will listen, but no discussion takes place and there will not be board action. Board members may ask clarifying questions. The protocol established for open forum is to provide a time limit of three minutes to share concerns. If a patron would like to have a two-way discussion, they are encouraged to schedule a meeting with the superintendent.
Appropriate and respectful public decorum is expected. Any complaints about school employees should refer to school board Policy KL: Complaint Against School Employee. |

7.a. Character Education Word of the Month
Background:
The Character Education word for the month of July is "dependability", which includes promise keeping and responsibility.

Background:
We sincerely thank Sandy Cass for her dedicated service on the Meade School District 46-1 School Board. Elected in 2022, Sandy has been a valued advocate for our students, staff, and community. Your commitment and contributions are truly appreciated. |

8.a. Approve Property Tax Levy
Background:
Superintendent, Mr. Wormstadt and Business Manager, Brett Burditt have submitted two options for the upcoming property tax levy request. The General Fund Levy is set by the state legislature, and for the Special Education Levy, we are recommending the state minimum required to receive full state aid.
Capital Outlay Levy Options: Option 1: $7,250,000 Option 2: $7,500,000 (recommended) We recommend Option 2 to support the district’s ongoing capital needs.

8.b. Approve Budget for 2025-26
Background:
Business Manager, Brett Burditt, recommends the Board adopt the 2025-26 budget as presented.

8.c. Approval of Superintendent and Business Manager Salary Increase
Background:
The proposal is a 2% base salary increase, the same as the increase approved for all district employees.
New salaries will be added to the salary publication approved in the new agenda. |

Background:
The following 2025-26 employee handbooks and staff agreements have been updated with recommended changes highlighted in yellow.

8.e. Approve FMLA Leave Expectations
Background:
The MEA and Administrative representatives have agreed on the following expectations related to FMLA leave for teachers. These guidelines will be reviewed during contract negotiations in Spring 2026 to assess the effectiveness and determine if any adjustments are necessary.
