6. Superintendent's comments:

Staff Training

• On Thursday, McCooks teaching staff attended an in-serivice conducted by Ken Williams. The focus of the staff training was focusing instruction on critically important learning objectives and holding high expectations for all students to reach those learning objectives. The training made explained how to apply high quality instructional strategies to help all students achieve academic success. 

Staff Return

• McCook's instructional staff have returned to the buildings. The official first day for all instructional staff was Friday. A variety of meetings and sessions are held during these teacher-in-service days: school improvement, activity sponsor, teacher evaluation, staff handbook, special education services, safety, and others. 

Students Return - Start of First Semester

• Students across the district will return to school on either Tuesday (K-6, & 9) or Wednesday (7-8, & 10-12) of this week. Both Tuesday and Wednesday are 2:00 dismissal days.

Fall Activities

• All fall activities have started up at the high school. Students have been back on campus training and practicing their skills for over a week getting ready for the Fall activities season.

9. New Business

9.1. Approve an increase to the school district’s property tax request authority by an additional six percent, or other maximum amount as permitted by law, above the base growth percentage.

*If approved, this action item increases the district's tax request authority only. This action item does not increase the tax request from property owners.

 

9.2. Approve policy 7070 concerning new construction and improvements to existing buildings using the construction manager at risk method.

*This step is being taken at this time to aid in the planning, designing, and cost estimates, among other services associated with a potential junior high building bond issue.

9.3. Approve Student Discipline Policy 

9.4. Approve option enrollment resolution.
