Executive Summary: Chief of K-12 Education and InstructionUNK Partnership We submitted an application to join the UNK Network of Partner Schools. UNK’s Dean of Education met with Jeff and I last week to discuss opportunities to strengthen connections between UNK and McCook Public Schools. We are scheduling to host UNK education students for a day this spring, introducing future teachers to our district and community. Other possibilities include presenting within UNK education classes or practicums, exploring a developing paraprofessional to special education teacher pathway, and pursuing scholarship partnerships. Curriculum Cards Teachers continue developing Curriculum Cards to clarify essential learning, student expectations, instructional resources, and assessments. A completed Junior High example will illustrate the finished product. Teachers have designated work time during Wednesday PLCs and on January 18, with a goal of completing the cards by March. Social Studies Adoption Samples are arriving for the social studies curriculum review. The adoption process will include examining alignment with standards and essential learning, reviewing instructional materials, and gathering teacher feedback to inform a recommendation. Veterans Day Programming • November 11 Each building has planned opportunities for students and staff to honor veterans and recognize their service.
Christmas on the Bricks • December 22 All Board of Education members and their families are invited to join MPS employees and their families for Christmas on the Bricks in downtown McCook. The evening will offer opportunities to enjoy time together, visit downtown businesses, and participate in holiday activities. Additional details will be shared as plans are finalized. |
