I. Discussion Items
Rationale:
1. Review Building Level Staff Meetings: 2nd Semester Staff Behavior Focus: Respect - Honoring myself and what others do and believe. Responsibility - Accountable for your words, for your actions, and for finishing what you start. The biggest difference between these two character traits is that respect is given and received immediately and responsibility is something we continually work to improve. While some would like to say you have to earn respect, that is not the way it works. Respect must be expected from day one. We should hold ourselves and others to treating themselves and others with respect. Respect is not something we earn. It is something we give and receive. This is one of the hardest character traits to address because it is something we have to consistently work at. It includes complaining about someone, gossiping, using sarcasm, respecting others opinions, etc... Responsibility on the other hand is something we continually work to achieve. As we work with each other our goal is to continually be more responsible. Be on time, finish what you start, take leadership responsibilities and model responsibility, etc...The hardest component of this characteristic is to be consistent and fair in your expectations and behavior. Your job is to identify one behavior identified by your staff that they would like to focus on extinguishing through respect and responsibility. Your certificated staff as well as your support staff have identified several, but your job is have them focus on one of those behaviors and through either respect or responsibility have them work together to minimize that behavior. 2. Board Committee Meetings: The Americanism/Curriculum, Governance/Planning/ and Board Policy/Handbook committees will meet next Monday, February 1st at 1:00 PM to sect the calendar for second semester. Building/Grounds/Transportation and Budget and Finance committees will Meet on board meeting Monday nights at 5:00 PM. 3. 2016-17 School Calendar Input: Review 2015-16 calendar and compare it to 2016-17. The board planning committee will meet next Monday, February 1st, to consider recommended changes to the school calendar for next school year. 4. Hiring of new and replacement staff for 201-17: As we get into the hiring season, I just want to review the guidelines for interviews and hiring. 1. All interviews are done by a team (more than one interviewer). 2. All interviews are conducted in a way that they can be objectively scored and all scores are kept on file in your office. 3. Recommendations for hiring must be submitted in accordance with the timeline set for administrator reports. 4. You can interview ahead of the advertised deadline, but cannot offer a contract (2 weeks). |
