I. Discussion Items
Rationale:
Communication Effort Respect Responsibility Belief One Good Thing! 5 Minutes of FAME: APL Weekly Focus: If you want it - Teach it!, Posting Objectives (What & How), On-The-Clock 1. SAA Meeting Location: We will continue to meet at the District Building unless notified of the need to change locations. 2. 2020-21 Calendar Recommendations: I met with the SEA to discuss their recommendations for next year's calendar. Last week we discussed recommending an optional .5 day for staff to work August 3-7 to set up their classroom. 3. Early Retirement Eligibility: We updated the list of teachers meeting the minimum age of 55 and met with those interested in December before Christmas break. In order to be eligible for state retirement, they must also meet the Rule of 85. In order to be eligible for an early retirement district incentive, they must also have a Masters Degree or equivalent and 10 years of service. If you have teachers who are 55 or older, and don't meet all of the qualifications of the early retirement policy, the board has considered partial incentives if the number of qualified candidates do not access the program. 4. 2020-21 Teacher/Program Needs: Staffing/program changes for 2020-21 will need to be completed and submitted to me by February 1st. Please focus on your teacher needs at this time. We are currently advertising: Elementary Principal, Middle School Assistant Principal, Physical Education, Elementary Education, Instrumental Music, High School Language Arts, Middle School Math/Science. We will advertise these positions in the Omaha World Herald for two weeks and on line until filled. 5. Principal Selection and Interview Process: I met with staff at both the middle and elementary buildings. Kady released an exchange last week asking staff in each building to list professional and personal attributes of the administration team at each building. I would like to have some volunteers from our administration to agree to participate in the interview and selection committee. I am planning on scheduling interviews next week and have a recommendation on these candidates for board approval on March 9th. 6. Strategic Planning: Review academic recommendations on Thoughtexchange. Dr. Gibbons and I worked on the academic recommendations (Except for ELL/Dual Language). See updated form. 7. Requisitions: Textbook cycle and requisitions for 2020-21 will be open Monday, February 17th. If you have any new hires, we need to know who they replaced and the inventory that goes to the new teacher. Teachers will need to requisition for their present positions. The COOP purchase teacher catalog opens on line on 2/17/2020. Coop purchase is due March 30th. Regular requisitions due May 1st. |
