Rationale:
SCHUYLER COMMUNITY SCHOOLS FOUNDATION MEETING 09/09/13 @ 12 NOON – 1:00 P.M. @ SCHUYLER CHAMBER OFFICE Membership: Lumir Jedlicka-Treasurer, Brian Vavricek- President, Virginia Semerad, Clinton Parr- Secretary, Sandy Seckman- Vice President, Victor Lopez, and Dan Hoesing Guests – Lora Johnson – Chamber Executive Director -Joyce Baumert – Performing Arts consultant – 402-352-5324 –mandjbaumert@gmail.com – possible member -Kem Cavanah – Economic Development Executive Director -Shelley Friesz – sfriesz@esu7.org – 402-352-3527 Ext 216 – Foundation Assistant -Sheri Balak – sheribalak@hotmail.com – Alumni Honors consultant Absent: Vision: To support the enrichment of educational programs and student life experiences Goals: -To promote education in Schuyler Community Schools -Additional giving of $100,000 by August 31st, 2013 Secretary Report/Minutes – Review and Approve (refer minutes e-mailed by Shelley Friesz – August 5, 2013) Treasurer’s Report – unofficial total balance $115,037 · Donations received from Martin & Laurie Schlautman $50 and Mendlik Orthodontics $25 New Business · Scott Larson from Paul J Strawhecker Inc. contacted Shelley in regards to fundraising- would like to come and meet with the committee at the October board meeting Committee Reports:

Minutes from the September Schuyler Community Schools Foundation meeting
Brian called the meeting to order
Members present: Lumir Jedlicka, Brian Vavricek, Sandy Seckman, Virginia Semerad, Victor Lopez and Dan Hoesing
Members absent: Clinton Parr
Others present: Lora Johnson, Kem Cavanah and Shelley Friesz
Secretary/Minutes from August meeting
• Motion by Lumir and seconded by Virginia to approve the minutes
Treasurer’s Report
New Business
Discussion in regards to Scott Larson with Paul J Strawhecker Inc.
• Their information will be forwarded to all members
• Will set up time (15 to 20 minutes) to meet with Scott and Paul at our October meeting
Committee Reports
Labor Day- Brian gave report in regards to dance
• Net profit was $515.00 after expenses of the band ($2,000) and wrist bands ($28.88)
° Motion approved to pay Brian Vavricek for the purchase of wristbands
Discussion:
• Next year look at different bands to play at the dance
• Increase attendance and increase advertisement
• Change the name to Labor Day Dance Sponsored by Schuyler Community Schools Foundation
• Continue to allow minors to attend the dance
Tours: Class of 1988 had a tour of high school
• Brian conducted the tour and put their class picture on easel
Volleyball tournament: Take off the foundation agenda- not sponsored by foundation
Basketball tourney: Brian gave report
Discussion:
• Need to get the basketball tourney set up for next year
• Suggested that Andy Cada would like to take over setting up the tourney
• Hold the basketball tourney at the SES and SMS gyms
• Volleyball tournament to be held at SCHS only
Labor Day float: Virginia & Lumir
• Outstanding Educators and Para educators rode a golf cart and car in the Labor Day Parade
° Received bill for banners from Q-Graphics for 218.28. Motion passed to pay the invoice
Scholarships: Sandy
Discussion by Sandy to possibly changing the amount of the scholarships
• Lumir and Brian not in favor of change no vote was taken at this time
Education: Lora
• Lora reported that The Outstanding Educator and Para Educator awards are starting with no changes
Performing Arts Center:
• Discussion setting the time line for funding the Performing Arts Center after the strategic planning workshop
• Meet with Paul Strawhecker Inc. at October meeting
Need to Create a Partnership:
• Board member to meet with Cargill to talk about partnership with the parents setting up computer lab at Cargill
• After Hours hosted by foundation – Sandy to set up
Alumni Honors Committee: No report
Brian adjourned meeting motioned by Sandy then 2nd by Virginia
Next meeting October 7, 2013 at Schuyler Chamber Office at noon
