I. Discussion Items
Rationale:
1. Review 2014-15 School Calendar: Administrators are to take the calendar with corresponding dates to their staff for discussion and recommendations for possible changes. The board of education will be given the calendar in February and the board's planning committee will make recommendations for adoption in March.
2. Colfax County Grant: Colfax County has received a grant for $8,900 in community aid grant dollars for a truancy officer. The goal of a school truancy officer is to bridge the gap between school officials and parents to encourage a positive, safe learning environment for all children at school and at home. See information 3. Cargill Feedback: We received the information from our parent sessions at Cargill last week. We will need to get this information compiled and back to Cargill by this Friday for them to get back out to their parents for their final input and prioritization. Thanks to Cargill and their employees for participating in this process. See attached information. 4. Early Retirement: The teachers who are eligible for rule of 85 are scheduled to meet with me on Wednesday at 3:00 PM. We agreed in our negotiations meeting that we would discuss the early retirement program with staff and make policy recommendations for the future. Marlene Hartman and Dr. Hoesing will compile the costs vs. the savings for the board of education to consider in their policy deliberation. 5. Administration Evaluation/Salary Negotiations: Dr. Hoesing will distribute salary information and a salary/benefit comparison study with area schools for your review. Each administrator must schedule a time with Dr. Hoesing to go over your evaluation and discuss contract considerations for the 2014-15 school year. The board's negotiations team will meet to review this information and your requests and have a proposal for the full board to consider at the February 10th meeting. 6. Technology Presentation: Mr. Grammer, Sally Jakub, Mr. Droge, and Dr. Hoesing attended a technology software presentation in Norfolk on Friday. We would like to schedule a time for Mr. Hopkins to come to demonstrate programs to our administrative team in the near future. The available dates are February 3, 6, or 10. We scheduled Mr. Hopkins for 9:00 on February 3rd in the Library Annex. He will stay and demo the Reading Mastery Software at 1:00 PM for the elementary administrators and their selected staff. |
