Discussion:
Shout out to Rachel Majerus. As our school nurse, she deserves a ton of credit for helping our district get through these past 2 years. There are days as a school nurse that it’s difficult to keep up with the number of students that need assistance. Rachel has managed this perfectly for our district. Not only does she take care of our students when they don’t feel well or get injured during the school day, but she also covers the office at times during the day. Rachel has also trained many of our staff members in First Aid/CPR these past 2 years and completed health checks for all students at Boone Central. Rachel will be greatly missed this next year. We appreciate everything she has done for Boone Central these past years. Dan Zoucha is an outstanding teacher that has taught for Boone Central/Albion for 26 years. I am always impressed with how he engages students, especially in his Government and Civics classes with real life, current issues. The discussions the students have are at a high level and kids are very passionate about the content in the class. Dan also teaches World Studies to 9th grade and does a wonderful job of incorporating geography and world history concepts. Several former students note how they love Social Studies and many of them go on to have jobs in fields related to these topics. Besides being a wonderful teacher, Mr. Zoucha is the Senior class sponsor. Throughout the year Dan keeps in touch with the Seniors about plans for their senior year and gets them ready for graduation. This includes taking the class for a group senior picture and ordering cap and gowns. At the end of the year, Mr. Zoucha helps me plan the graduation ceremony and organizes graduation rehearsal. Because of Dan, graduation is always a very organized and smoothly run event. Thanks to Mr. Zoucha for all he does for Boone Central Schools! Mr. Perone and Ms. Pestel. Throughout the past year we have hosted many district level events. Our vision as a board 6 1/2 years ago when we began looking at facility utilization and improvement was to make the Boone Central school district a location that our communities could enjoy as well as a hub for surrounding school districts to look at for hosting district competitions. Our district has been able to do just that. Having nice facilities is wonderful but without the hard work that goes into organizing and facilitating events, the buildings and venues would remain empty. This past year Boone Central has hosted our own Class C Cross Country District meet, Class C Basketball games, Class C Wrestling tournament, and will be Hosting the Class B District 4 Track Meet this Thursday. These meets provided our student-athletes an opportunity to compete at familiar venues and, to a degree, helped them perform at their very best. We have also hosted numerous other district events for surrounding districts. All of these events have required many, many hours of preparation and organization. Mr. Perone puts in a ton of work organizing these events, which help shine bright and positive light on our communities, our facilities, our staff, and our students. Ms. Pestel has also been instrumental in assisting with the organization and execution of past district wrestling and track meets as well as assisting with the upcoming meet on Thursday. A sincere thank you to Mr. Perone and Ms. Pestel for all that they do for Boone Central. Recognition of years of service for the following: Dorothy Grosch (5), Mellissa Kettelson (5), Nolan Vandenburg (5), Karen Anderson (10), Stacy Gragert (10), Rachelle Spence (10), Erin Eickhoff (15), Susie Gragert (16), Jenny Schmitz (16), Trina Hellbusch (17), Lynne Webster (17), Angie Zoucha (17), Michelle Merten (18), Dawna Nelson (20), Arlene Zoucha (21), Kathy Beckman (22), Bonnie Molt (22), Diane Dozler (23), Theresa Knust (23), Sherry Haber (24), Angie Flinn (25), Dan Zoucha (26), Jeanette Zwiener (26), Barb Foland (27), Licia Kunzman (27), Kay Flanagan (29), Chris Grundmayer (29), Jeff Hayes (31), and Kris Pestel (31) Mrs. Thome, Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Paulson for putting on some very incredible performances in the past few weeks. A lot of talent was showcased and performances were very engaging for parents and students. Mr. Thome/MS Track Coaches - Recognition for the dedication and organization put into our middle school track program. Facilities Committee and Mrs. Hardwick - Recognition for the time and dedication put into planning the new middle school. The layout is very thoughtful and will be a great addition to the Albion campus. Middle School Staff - Recognition for their continued dedication to the academic achievement of our students.
