6.2. Boone Central Recognitions
Discussion:
Roberts - Lowell for his diligence in preventative maintenance and for his engagement in the building projects.
Frey - Football program and all the kids who have played hard to get to where they are Stuhr - Nick and Ashley Krohn family. They sell pumpkins and donate the money to students to get $10 worth of books to add to their home library Fogleman - Larry Temme and all his did for our school and the community, he served 12 years on our Board and was a huge supporter. Also, Bilse Robinsen for his commitment to coaching and teaching. Rolf - Lowell for his efforts in spearheading the concrete project in order to create more parking Knott - I'd like to recognize Larry Temme. We lost a great human on Tuesday, October 31st and we'll be mourning and realizing this loss for sometime to come. Our condolences still rest with Radene and Larry's family. Larry was the epitome of what community is and what community should look like. In addition to a lengthy list of other public service related organizations and positions, Larry spent 12 years on the Boone Central Board of Education for the benefit of our kids and our communities. He was passionate about those things dear to him but always open to listen and understand differing opinions. He was a role model and mentor for many as it relates to community impact and public service, myself included. For his time on this board, we thank him. For what he's done to improve our communities and the legacy he leaves behind, we are for ever in his debt. Schwartz - Kathy Beckman and the food service department for all that they do to bring in different food for our students. We have a great lunch program! Larsen - This year was another example of the many great people in our school and community. I want to recognize many of the people who had a part in planning the Veterans Day Program. Michelle Devine did an excellent job lining up speakers and our MC, Ms. Olson and Mr. Zoucha for their Veterans Day projects that were displayed, Mrs. Bounds and Mr. Temme for lining up students to pass out programs, Mrs. Foland and Mrs. Gragert for having their kiddos send invites and sit with Veterans, our Custodial Team for setup, Mrs. Paulson for the combined MS and HS band, Mrs. Wright for audio setup and the Choir, Mr. Sup for running the stream, and our student speakers Bella, Natalie, and Luke. There were others I probably missed, but without them our program does not run as smoothly as it did. Thank you!! Kayton - Sawyer and Maggie Krohn- parents Nick and Ashley Krohn. Maggie and Sawyer used their money they made selling pumpkins to donate back to our students. Each elementary student at Boone Central and St. Mikes gets to pick out $10 worth of book order books to add to their at-home libraries. If you see the Krohns, please thank them for their generous donation! Curry - Dawna Nelson who lead the middle school character retreat, which was a huge success and something the students look forward to and enjoy. Additionally, her role as a guidance counselor is crucial. She organizes all the end-of-month assemblies for middle school. Perone - Playoff Football Workers/Volunteers- Thank you to all of the Game Day Workers for jumping in to help with "bonus football". Thank you to the Boone Nance Cattlemen, Thrifty Way, Albion Locker, Cedar Rapids State Bank, Ryan Stagemeyer, Greg Luettel, The Boone Central Alumni Committee, Ed Knott, and our staff members for assisting with the tailgate. Our Fall Sports Girls Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches- Defined the Cardinal Way. Worked hard in creating a competitive culture, by creating respect within each team, and by leading positively all season. Our end of season meetings had a refreshing feeling as we continue to connect our programs to the Cardinal Way. |

6.6. Principal & AD Reports
Discussion:
Larsen - Quarterly Assembly held at the end of October. Mrs. Hitchler has been nominated Teacher of the Quarter, Hannah Krohn/Riley Nelson have been nominated Students of the Quarter. Community Coffee is going to be hosted by the HS tomorrow morning at the Dotted Daisy. Students appreciate the new parking lot, which has alleviated some street parking and is more safe for our student drivers. Key card access is now operational at the Pathways Building, adding convenience and safety for access to that building. Bella Meyer is one of the student panelists attending the NASB student panel at this year's State Education Conference. Interviews took place last week for 4 HS English Teacher candidates, all were great interviews. This was validation for waiting from last Spring. We feel like this allowed us the great fortune of securing a quality teacher for next year.
Kayton - Students PK-2nd grade participated in Fire Safety. 1st and 2nd grade had the opportunity to visit Albion Fire Department. The Albion Fire Department came to the elementary and educated our students in Preschool and Kindergarten. Students participated in Red Ribbon Week. Many teachers and students helped make the Veterans Day Program a major success. We continue to have the discussion of what preschool may look like going forward. The possibility of moving to full-day 4-year-old preschool is being discussed. We are looking at having a community educational session on this as well as an opportunity for the community to provide feedback. Curry - The Science curriculum is up for renewal this year, but NDE will be adopting new science standards in 2024 so the Science curriculum renewal will be held off until next year. Our district will follow the adoption of all core curriculum, the state will adopt the curriculum one year, and we will purchase it the following year. Perone - Shot Clock passed the legislative process at the District level, and will now move to the Board of Directors. The second quote from Daktronics is $4,606. Recommend the quote through Applied Connective for the center speaker Sound System. Football Team Send off will be next Monday at 11:35 am. Game start time - 10:15 am Tuesday at Memorial Stadium |
