8.1. Boone Central Recognitions
Discussion:
Roberts- I would like to recognize our school nurse. We have gone through many illnesses at the beginning of the year and now we are kicking off cold and flu season so I am sure she is going to stay busy! Frey- I would like to recognize the Wagonhammers for donating ½ a beef and for paying for the processing in December. Thank you to the Malander Feedyards and Boone/Nance Cattelman for donating January’s beef. Thank you to the Schrivers for their donation of processing for a future date. And thank you to Krohn Farms for donating the January processing. Stuhr- I would like to recognize Mr. Sup and the Speech team, who are picking up where they left off last year! Judy Harder, a former teacher, passed away. She taught 2nd grade for many years and will be missed. Fogleman- I would like to recognize Leanne Blanchard for helping kids with their preparation for college, she is a great resource! Rolf-I would like to recognize everyone who has volunteered or worked for all the activities we have hosted. It is very helpful to have all the volunteers we have and it is very appreciated. Look-I would like to recognize everyone involved with our winter activities! There are a number of people who work to make them successful including students, coaches, sponsors, workers, custodial staff, admin, along with several others. They have started the winter season strong and I look forward to seeing their continued growth and success! Larsen- January is School Board Appreciation Month. A sincere thank you to all of you as school board members for your dedication and support of Boone Central. I am thankful for the time you devote to serving in this capacity and for the public service you perform as members of the Boone Central Board of Education. Your leadership is noticed and appreciated. Also, I would like to recognize School Nurse Jen Molt and Mrs. Chelsea Gaunt on another successful class of CNA students this year. Once again, all 6 students successfully completed their certification to become a CNA during the first semester through our partnership with CCC in Columbus and BCHC in Albion. Additionally, there were a handful of other students that also completed their certification outside of the class offered during the school day. This shows both the interest in the field of Healthcare, but also the impact this course offering is making to help serve not only our area but the need for professionals present in this field. I appreciate the efforts of our partners, these teachers, and all Boone Central students who embark on this journey during their high school experience. Curry- I would like to recognize Mrs. Mandy Anderson. She is a para who supports one of our students with high needs. She has shown patience, empathy, and a great deal of care working with this student throughout the year. We have seen this student improve greatly, becoming more verbal, interacting with peers, and we appreciate all she does not only for this student, but all the kids and adults she interacts with on a daily basis! Kayton- I would like to recognize Ms. Emily Naber. She student taught in the fall with Mrs. Gragert in 1st grade. In a few weeks, she will become Mrs. Bounds’ long term substitute while she is out on maternity leave. Emily does a great job building relationships with students and staff. I am excited to see where her teaching adventure will begin! Thanks for all you’ve done for Boone Central Elementary this school year! Perone- Thank you Mr. Look for helping with Middle School track wrestling, it has been very helpful to have someone who is knowledgeable help out with that role. |

8.5. Principal & AD Reports
Discussion:
Larsen- Mrs. Hitchler: Ag. Education is hosting student teacher Lydia Fitzke for Semester 2. Interviews for HS PE/Strength & Conditioning this week. There were 13 applicants for the position. We are interviewing 3. Plan to hold a drill in February with local law enforcement support. Also, in the works for planning a Distracted Driving (Mock Car Crash) activity with local first responders and the NSP in April, similar to one done approximately 5 years ago, but with changes/improvements. Kayton- Winter testing is complete! There was a ton of growth across the board. 39 awards given to students who scored in the top 90% nationally in reading and/or math MAPs testing. 206 awards given to students who grew by 10+ points in reading and/or math MAPs testing. Preschool and Kindergarten registration will open on Thursday, February 12th for the 2026-2027 school year. This month, I challenged teachers to really look at how we use technology in the elementary classrooms. I have asked them to somewhat "take a break" from the Chromebooks and iPads so we can step back and reflect on our intentionality of technology in the elementary classroom! I am excited for further discussions at our staff meeting this week. We will be hosting a practicum student from Wayne State College this semester, she will be working with Mrs. Brooke Ritterbush in the special education department Perone - We, along with the other schools in our conference, are moving to a new platform, Bound, for Activity/Athletics scheduling, rosters and communications. Currently, it is being piloted with speech. The company is in-state, better customer service. Should have everything rolled out in April/May. |
