I. Budget and Tax Request Hearings - 5:00 p.m. and 5:10 p.m.

Discussion:
The Budget and Tax Request Hearing meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m.

I.b. Pledge of Allegiance

I.c. Announce Open Meetings Act, Posting and Location - Wayne Community Schools, Wayne Public Library, Wayne Post Office, and online: www.wayneschools.org

I.d. Action on Absence and Roll Call

I.e. Approval of Agenda - The Board may enter Executive Session to discuss any matter for which Executive Session is lawful and appropriate.

I.f. Public Hearing on Proposed Budget
Discussion:
Mr. Lenihan presented the documents that will be presented to the Nebraska Department of Education. The document outlines the requirements needed for the school budget. The budget of a little more than $18.8 million dollars was set. There were no changes in the budget since the August 29, 2016, meeting.

II. Special Hearing to Set Final Tax Request - 5:10 p.m.

The Final Tax Request meeting was called to order at 5:10 p.m.

II.d. Public Hearing to Set Final 2016-2017 Tax Request
Discussion:
Mr. Lenihan presented the Board with the Final Tax Request, comparing 2015/2016 to 2016/2017 school years. The Tax Request has been set $8.8 million. The tax rate is 0.948669. The total tax levy increase is up approximately $0.03 from last year. The Board thanked Mr. Lenihan, Rochelle Nelson, and Diane Peters for all of the work that has gone into preparing all of the reports.
