The February Dorchester Board of Education meeting was opened by President Steve Vyhnalek at 7:00 PM.

Discussion:
Visitors present were Mrs. Kyleigh Lewis and 5 members of FLBA.

3.1. FBLA Presentation of 2018 SLC Conference
Discussion:
FBLA members Kyra Creamer, Ridge Hoffman, Josh Thompson, Kaytee Eberhardt, Makenna Bird and Mrs. Kyleigh Lewis presented information on their attendance at SLC to be held April 5-7 in Omaha.

Discussion:
Principal Allen presented information on Striv for activity streaming; Junior High Honor Choir was held January 29; Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held February 8th; No school on February 9th; Parents Night February 9th during the basketball game; Girls Sub-District Basketball February 12-15; Boys Sub-District Basketball Feruary 19-22.

Discussion:
Superintendent Schrunk presented legislative updates and upcoming training opportunities.

8. Discussion Items

8.1. Review Board of Education Policies #3013-3016.
Discussion:
Board policies #3013 Emergency Closings, 3014 Use of School Property, 3015 School Activities and 3016 Smoking were reviewed by the Board. No changes were required to 3013, 3014 and 3015. Policy 3016 will be updated for review at next month's meeting.

8.2. Discuss coalition called "Nebraskans United for Property Tax Reform and Education" that has been supported by NCSA, NRCSA, Farm Bureau, and many other groups in the state.
Discussion:
Superintendent Schrunk presented information on the coalition for the Boards review. This item will become an action item for the March Board month.

Discussion:
Once the new bus arrives, two buses (2001 and 2005) would be sold. A total of three buses will be kept in the school fleet. The Transportation Committee will meet to determine how to sell the two buses.

Discussion:
The Preschool Room will be paid 1/2 from the Preschool Grant and 1/2 from the Special Building Fund. The Music Room will be paid from the Special Building Fund.

Discussion:
The Booster Club is donating $2,000, D-Club is donating $1,000, and Novak Auction is donating $400 to the project. The Wrestling Club has also indicated they will be contributing as well. The remaining funds will be taken from the Activities Fund. In the future, additional boards could be purchased for academic achievements.
