1. Call to Order and Announce Open Meetings Act Verification
Discussion:
The regular board meeting was called to order by President Steve Vyhnalek at 7:00 pm with all board members present. He confirmed the advance notice of the meeting date and agenda. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

2. Roll Call
Discussion:
School personnel present are Superintendent Daryl Schrunk, Principal Jake Wiese, Linda Woolsey and Jen Feeken.

3. Receive Visitors and Announce Open Forum for Public Comment
Discussion:
Sharon Endorf, Director of Member Engagement for NASB was present. Dr. Curtis Cogswell, 2023-24 incoming Superintendent, was also present.

3.1. Sharon Endorf, Director of Member Engagement for NASB (Nebraska Association of School Boards), will present the information in their Membership Guides to the board for approximately 10-15 minutes.
Discussion:
NASB membership guides were distributed by Sharon Endorf. The various organizations they represent and services provided were reviewed for the Board.

Discussion:
Mr. Schrunk reviewed the April Financial Report. Mr. Schrunk informed the board the new bus is to be delivered tomorrow April 18th.

7.1. Principal's Report
Discussion:
Mr. Wiese shared 65 students are on the 3rd quarter honor roll or honorable mention list. On March 22nd, a "hold" drill with drug dogs was conducted. Formal evaluations for 2022-2023 are complete. The Junior class took their ACT test on March 21. FBLA State Leadership Conference was held April 3-5. Three FBLA students are going to Nationals after placing 3rd for a mobile app they developed. Kindergarten and Preschool had an open house on April 4. Many students have been recognized for Journalism and NSAA Multi-Activity Student awards. Amanda Cerny was recognized as a 2023 NDE "School Nutrition Hero". JH Quiz Bowl finished 3rd at the District Meet. Boys and Girls State delegates are Ashton Jirsa, Quinn Kasl and Amber Kotas. Upcoming events include NSCAS testing, 7-12 registration and scheduling, April 19 Longhorn Line-Up, April 22 Prom / Post Prom, April 25 Athletic Banquet, April 27 HS Spring Concert, May 1 Elementary Spring Concert, May 3 Senior Trip / Skip Day, May 5 PTO Carnival, May 9 Honors Night, May 12 Seniors last day with staff breakfast and May 13 graduation. End of the year staff activities include: May 19 recognition / celebration lunch, May 22 MTSS "Refine and Refocus", May 23 K-6 Date Day and May 24-25 School Improvement Meeting. Summer Reading and Math Camps will be held June 12-16 and July 10-14. Mr. Wiese will be looking for other schools and NDE input on Valedictorian / Salutatorian selection and chronic absenteeism. More details will be shared at a later date.

7.2. Superintendent's Report
Discussion:
Mr. Schrunk presented Legislative Updates. Included were LB385, which creates a program for retention grants of $2,500 for some teachers; LB356 NE colleges/universities for student grants; LB520 delaying implementation of science and technology education credits; LB724 eliminating the test for basic skills competency; LB372 allowing part-time enrollment of students; LB705 distribution of lottery funds; LB372 non-public students in school's extracurricular activities; LB583 foundation aid to qualified school districts; LB243 percentage of annual increase requests for levying authority and LB298 data collection for dyslexia. Mr. Wiese will be recognized on Wednesday, April 19th at the Region I meeting as the Principal of the Year. Mr. Schrunk, Dr. Cogswell and Steve Vyhnalek attended the Spring Conference in Kearney on March 23-24. Mr. Schrunk, Dr. Cogswell and Steve shared highlights of the conference. Friday, May 19th, we will have the Staff Service Awards. The board is invited to attend at noon.

Discussion:
Mr. Schrunk reviewed policies #5026-Sex Discrimination and Sexual Harassment of Students; #5028-Initiations and Hazing; #5029-Crisis Response Policy; #5030-Truant Behavior; #5031-Student Appearance; #5032-Closed Campus; #5033-Student Driving and Parking. No changes are necessary.

Discussion:
Mr. Schrunk reviewed the changes in the CRC Conference schools. Dorchester will not host the Quiz Bowl in 2023-2024. We will host the basketball tournament. Therefore, the school calendar changed February 14th to a full day of school and November 22nd will be part of the Thanksgiving break.
