1. Call to Order and Announce Open Meetings Act Verification
Discussion:
The regular September board meeting was called to order by President Steve Vyhnalek with all board members present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Also present are Superintendent Curt Cogswell, Principal Jake Wiese, Jen Feeken, and Corey Bird.

Discussion:
Our end of the year expenditures equal $3,917,482 compared to $3,913,177 last year for a difference of $4,305. One expense to bring to your attention is the bill regarding IDEA Technology - this was additional funding provided through Special Education. We also had our transfers to Depreciation and Athletics in our expenditures.

7.1. Principal's Report
Discussion:
Mr. Wiese shared recent activities at DPS. The District has two new teachers in 2023-2024. MAP testing has been completed. Dorchester School hosted the Blue River Cohort on Tuesday, September 5th. Mr. Wiese attended the NSASSP/NCSA Region 1 meeting where KSB Law presented information about part-time enrollment and participation in activities and also whether or not schools need to honor credit from non-accredited institutions (home schools). Upcoming events include Homecoming Week on Sept. 18-22, K-6 Grandparents Day on Sept. 29, and Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences.

7.2. Superintendent's Report
Discussion:
Mr. Cogswell shared that we had many compliments from other schools about the Blue River Cohort. The seniors painted the bleachers on the football field. He reminded the Negotiation Committee that they must meet by November 1st for the 2023-2024 school year. Mr. Cogswell stated that his focus for September will be IDEA compliance, certification compliance, completing grand applications for ESSA and IDEA, and preparing for audits.

8.1. Option Enrollment Resolution: Our Board must adopt an Option Enrollment resolution by October 15th.
Discussion:
Mr. Cogswell discussed with the board options for an option enrollment resolution.

8.2. Office of Special Education External District Monitoring Protocol
Discussion:
Mr. Cogswell shared that Dorchester Public School was a school to monitor based off of special education data submitted during the 2021-2022 school year. He said measures that they look at for students receiving special education services are - attendance, discipline, academic achievement, graduation, etc.

8.3. Teacher Certification
Discussion:
Mr. Cogswell told the board we have a teacher working towards completing certification requirements for this current school year. He has been in contact with NDE and is working towards getting everything needed submitted.

8.4. State Education Conference
Discussion:
Mr. Cogswell told the board the State Education Conference is scheduled for Nov 15-17 for anyone who would like to attend.

A total tax request of $3,333,333 compared to $3,267,676 last year and a total levy of .81670 compared to .80687 last year.
