President Lutkemeier called the meeting to order at 7:50 pm. (Delay in the meeting was due to FFA Banquet presentations.) The meeting was advertised in the March 3rd, 2022 publication of the Blue Hill Leader. "The Open Meetings Act" poster was displayed in the meeting room.

7.3. Rule 10 Safety Report
Discussion:
Larry Witt visited and inspected both the high school and elementary for compliance with Rule 10. See attached report for Silver Lake Public Schools 2021-22 School Year. Mr. Bauer summarized the recommendations of the report for board members.

With summer leagues and camps being arranged it is becoming more important that we have the extra duties approved in March instead of April.

7.5. Gym re-surfacing

Discussion:
Mr. Bauer reported that the school needs to continue to maintain gym floors at both sites. Mr. Drake has secured bids from MARC and EGAN Supply. Mr. Bauer was disappointed with the product from EGAN supply last year. He recommends that we do a double coat at the High School this year in the amount of $2,979.70 and the single coat at the Elementary in the amount of $1,568.75. He trusts Rick - who has always done an outstanding job for us, and he is back to being our region representative for MARC.

Discussion:
Shaun Fisher spoke to board members about the increase in property and auto insurance premiums. Property valuation increased by 1.2 million. The policy premium is based on replacement cost.

8.1. Superintendent
Discussion:
Mr. Bauer reported that he would be reassigning Mr. Arntt to the role of 7-12 Principal and Mr. Drake to the role of Elementary Principal for the start of the 2022-23 school year. Look for some information in regards to budgeting needs at the April and May board meetings. Legislative changes will impact our hearing this year and we will need to be prepared. Increased transportation costs and the inflation of goods and services will be a major point of discussion. We need to start these conversations early so that you are aware of what we are facing. Reminder that the NRCSA Conference is March 17th and 18th in Kearney. Mr. Bauer will be conducting the Pleasanton External Review on the 21st and 22nd. "Make Your Meetings Matter" training will be held in Kearney on April 13th from 5 - 8:30. John Spatz and Marcia Herring will run this meeting. Please let Mr. Bauer know if you would like to attend. Meeting protocols and procedures are constantly changing.

8.2. Elementary Principal
Discussion:
Mr. Arntt reported that FFA students will come and give a presentation to the elementary students on March 31st. Dr. Seuss Week was February 28th - March 4th. Mr. Conroy and Silver Lake Elementary have completed Jump Rope for Heart and raised $5,000.39. The Elementary Spring Concert will be Tuesday, May 17th. The Elementary Honors Program and Fun / Field Day will be Friday, May 13th. The Honors Program will begin at 9:00 am with the Field Day to follow at 10:30 am. Kindergarten Roundup for next year was held on Tuesday, March 1st at 6:00 pm in the elementary commons. At this time, we are expecting 14 kindergartners next year. Preschool Roundup for next year was held on Tuesday, March 15th, at 6:00 pm in the elementary commons. Interviews for the Title 1 position were done on March 3rd, 4th and 8th. Elementary Teacher In-service was Wednesday, February 16th, from 1 - 4 pm. LaRaesha Kugel from ESU 9 discussed our NSCAS scores and reviewed several reading series to consider for adoption. There was a student issue with a staff member on February 24th. A Webster County Sheriff's deputy was called and report taken. State Testing: NSCAS Summative Window is March 21st - April 29th, with make-up testing only from May 2nd - May 6th, 2022.

8.3. Secondary Principal
Discussion:
Mr. Drake reported that the high school had a new 7th grade girl. Preregistration is underway and they have started to build the 2022-23 schedule. At the February 16th teacher in-service, ESU-9 professional development staff discussed Kagan cooperative learning. Currently, the boys' track team has 10 members and the girls' have 12. There are 8 golf team members as well. Completed events include State Dance - Champions in C2/D Jazz; Basketball seasons are completed; TVC Speech with Silver Lake coming in 3rd; District Speech; Speech Night; Regional Science Fairs; FFA Week; FFA CDE's; and the FFA Banquet. Upcoming events are: CCC Actions Day - March 16th; ACT - March 22nd; TVC Quiz Bowl in Harvard - March 30th; Teacher In-Service - April 6th; FBLA SLC - April 11 - 13th; Prom - April 22nd; 7 - 12 Spring Concert - April 26th; and Graduation - May 14th. Administrative - Empowering Leaders included NWEA updates; Mr. Knehans and Mr. Drake have been looking at updating the Social Studies curriculum; and Mrs. Behmer and Mr. Drake have been looking at Financial Literacy / Personal Finance curriculum.
